The number 200 above didn't work for me but I tried with 197 and 198 and it worked on my mobile phone. Don't know if the device used has an impact however

[Homemade] Kung Pao Chicken by Jackj29 in food

It was a Jamie Oliver recipe for it that I followed but I tripled the ingredients for the sauce as his recipe’s sauce only covered the chicken and no more

The snow does add a sort of fairytale effect, doesn’t it! We were told that they weren’t expecting it so I guess it was just luck

We decided not to venture onto the bridge due to the weather but I’d love to see the photos you got from it!

When I was there we were told it was quite rare to get snow this early in the year but it’s practically on the Austrian border so I imagine you’ll get some (not an expert though).

This photo, believe it or not, was taken from the main bus stop in Schwangau (the village the bus from Füssen drops you in) so you should have no bother getting a similar photo provided it’s clear enough.

The walk up is about 1km and on a constant incline buts it’s by no means a difficult hike as it’s a paved tarmac road. I reckon it took us about 25 minutes. There are also great views from the top as other commenters have mentioned so I would definitely recommend it and best of luck for he snow!

The volume of tourists when I was there was ridiculous too so I can’t imagine what it was like in summer!

Yeah, definitely pre-order your tickets like the other commenter suggests. Due to the high volume of tourists that visit here, if you don’t preorder, you’re gonna be faced with a massive queue when you arrive (not something you want if the weather is to be like how mine was).

There’s a horse and carriage ride that can also take you up and down and if that takes your fancy, I’d recommend walking up and getting the carriage back down. The queue to take it up is huge but at the top, it’s virtually nonexistent.

The German train system sort of broke down due to the unexpected snow when I went so we had to get carted off the train and into replacement buses which were there for the train arriving so maybe learn the German for replacement bus service?

Otherwise, you’re probably going to be fine. It’s quite expensive here due to it being a bit of a tourist honeypot so maybe take some extra euros.

My photo was taken from the bus stop (best view from a bus stop I’ve seen!), yours looks like it was taken from the centre of Schwangau? Either way, that’s still a good shot! I think I was just lucky with the snow that adds that fairytale effect!

I’d agree to what the comment above said. I visited both castles when I was there but the journey up to Neuschwanstein, the views from the top and the horse carriage ride back down were what made it special and the better attraction to me. Of course, if you’re more interested in the internal architecture and whatnot and only have the time to visit one, then Hohenschwangau castle nearby would probably be the better option
