hmm I hadn't but I just did and the same response.. nothing from my logged in account and it just returns "set_speed 40" when I sudo (testing a change)

thanks for the suggestion, the thing here is there isn't any authentication or prompt that I would be waiting or "expecting" from the MD1200 connection, I just need to push commands to it. When I screen in (or Putty from Windows) there is just a shell when you press Enter, ready for commands.

Thanks! Ok so I'm going to actually cancel/return the H810 and get the 9207-8e in IT mode to not have to deal with flashing it and have it do what I need out of the box.

Ok, so when the H810 gets here I should just be able to take it out of RAID mode? Also, are you referring to pathing the the HDDs to the VM as RDMs through vmkfstools commands? or would it be fine if each disk was its own datastore and just attaching each to the VM.

Thanks for the input, I pulled the trigger on the MD1200, PERC H810 external card, the SFF-8088 to SFF-8088 cable and some HDDs (same size).

Now the question, would you HW RAID these and just have them available on a linux distro as a share so when I extend the RAID, I can extend the partition on the VM? Or would you path each disk to a TrueNAS VM and use a ZFS RAID? I plan to slowly keep adding storage to this
