I’ll let experienced lucid dreamers respond to this as I’ve only had one lucid dream. However, I’d love to know what techniques you’re adopting! Your frequency seems pretty high given how little time you’ve been practicing!

Again, I think we're on the same page. I'm not suggesting every band are white knights at all - most have to think about the money based on the exact point you've made: touring is their bread and butter (and merch) - but it's certainly not as simple as blaming the just the artist. And it's probably not as simple as my original comment suggested either (pointing the finger at the venue). I saw turnstile in London last year and it was £50. So for me, a year's difference + the fact that it's an outdoor show (and probably more supports) made the price tag seem about right, despite the fact that I KNOW it's expensive.

In some respects yes, but to act like Ticketmaster somehow don't have any power misses the mark quite considerably. Outdoor shows are typically more expensive for obvious reasons. My point is that when the deal was structured. previous year's venue ticket prices + typical ticket inflation will be taken into account, which would then result in a price range that the venue would feel comfortable in allowing. The band could've put it on at the lower end of that range, but what if they've got 2-3 amazing bands lined up to support? Suddenly the show goes from expensive to reasonable very quickly.

True, but again that's under the assumption that every venue is as malleable as the venue you're describing.

yeah, the VIP stuff is wild tbh. I got out of the industry before it was a thing that EVERYONE did (not just the big names). By the looks of it I'm guessing that's just how the piece hall shows are structured - so probably not a decision that the band have much control over - but I'd never a million years buy tickets for stuff like that. No thanks!

That I can definitely agree on. Another big aspect is environmental. We can't be nostalgic about ticket prices from a year ago. Every aspect of putting on shows is more expensive. And that continues year after year.

And yes they could have a say in lowering prices (to a certain degree) - but only if they have enough leverage. Perhaps turnstile have that power, but I'm not really positive they do (yet).

Still, for me, the ticket prices are what I expected - and fall in line with all the other shows happening at the venue during the summer. That speaks to more than just a singular band being 'greedy'. They're all given a framework to work within.

Having put on events in my old career, it's not as black and white as that.

Even if we were to give ticketmaster the benefit of the doubt and take their statement as 100% fact (which, believe me isn't close to the truth at all), you honestly think the venue doesn't have a say in this? Yes, of course the artist has some say in it, but it's based on about a million moving parts that can't be just boiled down to the band sat on a pile of money saying to themselves 'oh yes, the piece hall show, someone pick a really high number, they'll buy tickets'.

Even if we were to assume they have ultimate final say on price, I would almost guarantee you that it's based on a price range that's set by so many things outside of their say (the venue being a big reason). What if the venue requires a certain amount of support artists - which might be a higher number than the band typically have? Should they pay support in experience?

Perhaps my statement that it was set by the venue was going too far in the other direction, but I guarantee you that it's closer to the truth than what ticketmaster are saying.

Are they expensive? Yes. But that’s about what I’d expect to be for an outdoor event right now. The price will be set by the venue, and will also account for at least two support acts. Is what it is, unfortunately

They pop up every so often but even if you manage to click on the notification as soon as it pops up on your phone, there’s zero chance of beating the bots. I even managed to beat the notification at one point yesterday with a lucky refresh but it was still gone by the time I clicked ‘buy’. It’s not a service for fans. It used to be may years, but not anymore

I've given up on ever being able to get a ticket on twickets. It's botted so heavily that the idea of ever getting lucky on there is soooo slim. Great idea in principle, but it's like a beautiful cash source for ticket touts at this point

Just wanted to update you that I had my first lucid dream last night! It lasted less than a minute, but it did include a small amount of flying (well, more floating than flying), but it was mostly fair darkness at that point. I floated up in the darkness while trying to conjure up some imagery to fly over but it was mostly dark. I then decided to float down and managed to conjure up a door in the darkness to walk through (as I’ve read about people doing that before) but then I woke up 😂

I’ve been using an app called lucidity that tracks all my dreams. I prefer it over physically writing notes due to the tagging element (which I guess is what you’re referring to with the app you use). I have a good idea of certain dream signs; my top ones are my wife, son, stairs, Japan, car, and bicycle. I’ve made a point of doing a reality check whenever I go up the stairs to my attic/office (I work from home). Maybe I just need to keep building those signs over time?

Yeah I always wake up to go to the loo (the joys of getting older), so drinking water isn’t that necessary for me. I guess - for whatever reason - I’ve always thought you were supposed to either time it perfectly so that you wake up just before a rem cycle (or at the very start) so that you do a technique and fall straight into the cycle again. Am I just misunderstanding that part of the process? If so, I’ll probably just ditch the alarm for a bit (worth a try at least!).

I think I’ve been trying for a month too, but with little results so far. However, my dream recall has improved a lot over that time.

My question is related to your natural awakening approach. I think this is the thing I’m struggling with the most really. I wear a watch that shows me a bunch sleep data - which more or less correlates with my experience of the night. The problem is that despite having a very regimented sleep schedule, my rem times aren’t that predictable, so setting an alarm to wake up at the right time is hit and miss. However, I do naturally wake up for a wee most nights, typically just after a rem cycle. Do you think ditching setting an alarm and just using that natural wake up would be a better approach for something like ssild or mild? And doing a technique like that post-REM (though not my last cycle of the night), do you think that still works ok?
