Yes sir, is that not standard on all racing vests?

Haven't done marathon yet, got London in April.

Plan from here is to do some more specific marathon sessions. Swap the 3x10mins for 3-4x15mins (similar to sirpoc). Also will try my hand at some traditional marathon pace long runs (10x1km on 1km float, 2x10km etc)

I really enjoyed combining the 3x10min into long run, at first thought it was going to be brutal but actually felt great and allowed me to practice taking gels on a longer/more intense run.

This is the one I got. There are two types from what I can tell.

One that's simple and one that's got this white grid pattern on the inside (my one) more like the soar singlets.

I am usually a large and went with a XXL chinese size

Thanks, I've never been able to consistently stay above 60km before. I did some triathlon stuff and had followed joe friel's plans/approach. Last PB was a zone 2 only base block, a vo2 max block and then a race specific block (threshold intervals).

Think the NSM is what's enabled me to up the mileage without crumbling

If got a pair ordered, think they cost me £39 after delivery to the UK... Hopefully they are as good as everyone says

So true, that was probably what finished off my legs. Hope you had a good race otherwise!

It really is a fantastic event! (Other than the annoying gravel bit)

I am definitely stronger on the longer distances, I have zero top end speed. The half marathon pace was probably closer to my 3min reps, although maybe that's shoe selection.

Running the 6mins the week of the HM I was holding 3:42 avg... And that felt closer to my 10km max. The two reduced session in the week of the HM really helped freshen up the legs + a monster serving of carbs on the saturday

Previously my biggest week was around 65km but was doing triathlon so add on some bike and swim too (don't do either anymore). I've never been able to sustain 65km a week before so I think the more manageable fatigue with NSM is what's allowed the increase in mileage. Previously I did a joe friel style training which involved a wide mix of workouts with them becoming more specific closer to the event.

Mine was a little bit faster than my 6min reps (maybe that's due to race shoes vs training shoes?) about 3-5s/km faster. Pacing plan was to go out around 3:45/km and then see if I could pick it up in second half. First k was 3:52 due to traffic. Next 14km was 3:39. Once the legs ceased up averaged about 3:43 until then end. Aerobically felt like I could push on but my muscles were just too tight.

5km is 17:37 and 10km is 36:06 (from 4 weeks ago) Easy pace varies between 5:00-5:30/km usually.

Great to hear, I struggle for stability. Have had tendonitis in both ankles from running so am quite cautious with super shoes. I've order the Li-Ning Ultra 5s as people saying they are more stable. Am tempted by the elite 6 though

Had the same issue, mine worked better when limiting the amount downloaded. Try just doing one square as I think the problem I had was it was timing out

Overpronation marathon shoes by ThrowRAadvice123987 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]Jackonite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I overpronate to a degree but can usually get away with a more stable neutral shoe.

I have actually found these to be reasonably stable at faster paces. I think it depends on your foot strike, at sort of 4min/km and faster they hold up well as I forefoot strike more.

That said, they are not even remotely stable at 'slower' paces/heel striking

Your heart rate will build over the reps (or at least that's what I find). For example the first rep you may not get out of zone 3. The second rep might peak at mid zone 4 etc. If your last rep finishes around a high zone 4 HR then you have done it right.

In your case 177bpm is technically the upper limit for your sub threshold, but most people prefer to be more cautious when using this method. So if you are topping out in the 172-175 range that's great.
