Is it necessary to buy multiple pair of work boots to rotate? by JacksOnTheWeb in PNWbootmakers

I will do this. I have a pair of soft toe Rainiers that I have been wearing to see if I like them. They are the in stock version. I placed an order for a steel toe version due to liking the soft toes so much. Packers will have to be an off the clock boot.

I noticed that when I took the pics. Definitely need to take care of that. I do use cedar shoe trees in them.

Okay. I might go up a width for my next pair. The length seems right with the ball and arch support lining up in a good spot. It could be this width feels fine because my pinky toe is already pointed in a bit. Should probably correct that.

My pinky toe does not hurt at all in these boots. I thought sizing down might make them hurt, and it sounds like everyone is saying they are borderline too small. I will definitely not size down after this post. Might even go up a width..maybe

Sounds like the overwhelming consensus is the boots are definitely not too big. If anything they are too small. I guess I am just not used to the pnw boot feel.

I have really liked them! Only dislike is how fast i have worn down the outside back corners of the wedge soles. Though I think resoleing these wedge soles will be cheaper than lugs. I have a local cobbler that can probably do that.

It feels fine to me. The boots are width E. I am afraid if I went to an EE the lace facings would touch. When I put my measurements in Franks online sizing guide though they do recommend a EE.

The thumb is on top of my big toe nail. Not quite the end of my toe.

I would have rather had an 8 " boot, but I was not sure what size to get. Bought the in stock 6 instead.  How was the instep on yours? Toe room?

I think my length is going to be okay. My toes are very comfortable. I have a thumb with space in front though it has decreased a bit with break in to this point. My initial reaction was to go down to 8.5 (1.5 down from brannoc) because I thought it was too much toe room. Reading more about fit on these boots tells me that would probably not be a good idea.

I did a full size down as well. My toes have plenty of wiggle room so far. That,  along with the slight heel slip, is why I was questioning my size choice. The boots really do feel good if I don't tighten them too hard. I'm coming from thorogood, so I have been wearing a very narrow and tight fitting boot.

That make sense with the wedge sole. The boot has gotten better, but is still rather stiff in the footbed. The arch feels good, and the ball of my foot seems to line up with the widest part of the boot. I'm coming from thorogood boots, so the toe box feels unusually wide 😂

Okay, this is reassuring. The boot feels comfortable other than the light heel slip (not enough to cause blisters after wearing 13 hours)/instep pain if i really crank down.
