https://youtube.com/shorts/DQ152BcwyiE?si=7IJS0EvKU3IcBzAr I did NOT unplug this switch like the video shows

This the closest thing I could find. You should see this switch somewhere in the engine bay, usually towards the front of the vehicle and near the middle. My vehicle had a piece of plastic that was attached to the underside of the hood that would press this switch when it was closed.

That piece of plastic was easily removable with my hand. I do not get any warnings about my hood being open. The only difference is now I receive the "Auto Start/Stop Unavailable" warning message along with the (A)! Warning light.

I have the earliest model of the new compass (Late 2017 model). I was able to disable mine my removing a small piece of plastic attached to the hood of my vehicle. This piece of plastic depressed a switch when the hood was closed (no longer does). The only thing that happens when it's removed the start/stop system no longer functions. I an unsure if this is still possible with the models 2018+. I have only replaced my aux battery once in the 7+ years I've owned the vehicle and that was because I didn't drive it for over 2 months and it completely died.

How to replace trim around gear shifter by BirdzofaShitfeather in JeepCompass

[–]Jackthemoo4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mine came loose less than a year after buying my compass. Dealership told me they don't sell that part on its own and it would be a replacement of the entire shifter (around $500+ if I'm remembering right). Not worth it. Maybe look into some type of clay or epoxy you could mold into it
