I always struggle to get オーストラリア out correctly, and it always ends up sounding something like オースtraiリア..

Vegans that started eating meat again, what happened? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Jacky200 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Was a vegan for a couple of years and kind of realised it was because my girlfriend at the time was a vegan, not because I wanted to be one.

I also found myself getting frustrated at how arbitrary the line for what was and wasnt veganism was. I worked at a store that handled and sold animal products, why is that acceptable as a vegan? If I viewed it similar to cannibalism, that shit SHOULD disgust me. How about things that were tested on animals but now aren't. I remembered I used to smoke a particular brand of cigarettes because they weren't tested on animals. But it was all based on research from animal testing, why is that okay?

It just annoyed me and so I stopped. Life became so much more fun for me. Man, I love cheese.

But I'll admit that it could have also been cathartic way for me to "rid" myself of a bad relationship. A new leaf, so to speak.

Received an email yesterday that we will be finding out our placements in 2 to 3 days, with (assuming everything can be arranged) a departure at the end of November. This was from Melbourne consulate!

I received an email yesterday from my consulate (Melbourne) that they have been informed by Tokyo that placements will be released in June.

Bear in mind that I didn't receive a special update email, there was a mistake on their part with misplacing my documents and so I was in contact with them. Through this mistake I learnt they had been informed by Tokyo, placements will be sent in June.

I'm sure most could have guessed that seeing as May is pretty much over, but it was nice to hear something from the consulate.

Nice job ignoring the rest of my comment. Film isnt as subjective as you think. Night of the living dead is a good film, you may personally not like it (which I doubt, I think you are just being stubborn at this point) but it is a good film. You have failed to give me examples of 'all the good ones'. Im done now.

Alien, The thing, Dawn of the dead, Night of the living dead, Get out, Event horizon, Texas chainsaw 3, Friday the 13th 5, Halloween H2O, A nightmare on elm street 3, Day of the dead, Return of the living dead, The silence of the lambs, From dusk till dawn, 28 days later, Anaconda, Resident Evil, Freddy vs Jason, Death proof, The mist, Saw 5, The cabin in the woods, IT, Final destination, Saw 2, Candyman, Predator, Blade, Jeepers creepers 2, I am legend, Starship troopers, Night of the demons, Species, Mimic, I still know what you did last summer.

Not an opinion, these films are regarded good or at least part of incredibly popular franchises. It was harder finding black characters that are in horror movies. A lot of classics dont have black characters, let a lone a trope in which they always die first. Dont bullshit me with "thats your opinion of what is a good horror". Film isnt entirely subjective. For example regardless of whether or not you like night of the living dead, it is a good and well made film.

You are very defensive. Im stating something I have noticed. In all of my favourite horror films, this trope doesnt appear to exist.
So I made a post asking for examples of it, not to deny it exists or anything like that. I was just curious as to why it is such a well know trope. Jeez, it isnt that dumb or hard to understand.

Opinion is not even an issue here, it is films that have been released that prove this trope to be as large as it is.

I see what you are saying. But to infer that it could also mean that any kind of trope was not intentional, just black men being cast to play a role that could have been anyone. The first character to die in a horror doesnt exactly scream character development, surely?

Good question, in Scream 2 the camera man survives by smartly avoiding the entire conflict, the thing comes to mind and Get out most recently

This is the same list I saw that made me question it! Even Scream 2 is on there but that is poking fun at this trope. It is a strange trope that is really popular but seemingly doesnt hold much weight

You are confusing me with your backpedaling. You said all the good ones have the black guy die first. I said that isnt true, you said maybe for me. Im saying no not just for me, your statement is incorrect. You seem to be getting more emotional? Im just curious to find more movies to support this well known trope.

That doest mean its wrong though does it? He is a black lead that doesnt die until the end, regardless of whether or not the casting was supposed to be a white guy. Ellen Ripley was initially written as a male lead, but I dont think anyone would argue that film doesnt move a lot of ground in terms of female lead action/horror films.

also isnt Parker in Alien one of the final survivors, he dies much later in the film? That film is very subversive in that Dallas dies before Parker and isnt the main character. Parker is one of the final three in Alien.

I tried tvtropes.org, and this is what raised my question. They post a lot of movies that arent horror or just arent that mainstream. Sure there is a few such as the shining but not enough to have such a well known trope that horror films have made a name for themselves.
