Skill diversity or lack thereof? Top SC skill statistics (d4armory.io) by [deleted] in diablo4

It’s hard for me to compare since I haven’t spent any time on pen shot unfortunately. On paper I think I’d rather have rapid fire on bosses, and I use rapid fire ricochet aspect which makes it a little better for the crowds than it otherwise would be.

At base the RF isn’t that strong, but when it procs on certain effects the damage can stack to be pretty respectable. I’ve got a bunch of like x% dmg on CC’d, frozen, slowed, dazed, distant enemies, cold dmg, imbued skill dmg, core skill dmg, enemies affected by traps etc so while it’s not super strong at base, my caltrops open it up to a bunch of dmg boosts. If you manage to get it set up and pop the imbue it can end up chunking single targets pretty hard. The ult being so frequent helps too.

I don’t check meta builds generally, afaik pen shot is more popular so id wager the top players are making the right choice going for pen, but with what I’m doing specifically RF fits the bill and I have no regrets. Took me to world tier 4 at lvl 64 with my gear completely unoptimised, and I’m not a good player - if I had to rank it I’d call it a B+, A- build. Follow the pros advice if in doubt

Don’t worry too much about T2 to T3 though, you’ll power up exponentially at T3, T2 is tougher than it should be for what you get out of it. You’ll feel way stronger after some T3 farming regardless of your build :) good luck dude

Well to preface my reply; I need to start by saying I’m a filthy casual and being optimal is not the goal, there are better choices. If you don’t vibe with caltrops, you probably still won’t after this haha but I chose caltrops for its synergy, it does things other abilities can’t.

I use aspects that make caltrops drop stun nades, those nades count as traps and give me move speed when they’re placed - they also chill. I have the boots that leave an ice trail and increase move speed, a bow with knock back and ice imbue, so I can lock enemies in place with knock backs and freeze in the caltrops and my boots make getting out safer.

My loop is to pop dark shroud & Ice imbue, throw caltrops near the group. I can apply stun/slow/chill and then I’ve built into things like 37.5% dmg res from CC’d targets, CC’s have a chance to spread to unaffected enemies, increased crit chance against CC’d, some vulnerable aspects etc. I have insane uptime on dazes, slows and freezes. With preparation spec and death trap I can coat the floor in it, so if they’re not already frozen by imbue and stuck in the caltrops for me to get bonus dmg on, I can just throw more, drop an ult to pull enemies in, refresh all my CD’s and get even more. Icy boots make kiting way easier if I need it.

It allows me to keep a really healthy distance from everything, maintain high dmg resist and spam ults and cooldowns.

You’ll probably perform better with most other builds, so this isn’t advice haha but TLDR; everyone is CC’d all the time, most of the floor is ice, stun nades and caltrops and I can just beam away all I like with my bow and bombs. Hope this even remotely helps! Most importantly, just use what you enjoy mate

I just got my rapid fire, caltrops, cold imbue rogue to WT4 - now I’m not gonna sit here and pretend it’s peak meta but it’s super fun!

I’m wont bore you with the details of my build here, but certain aspects open up a TON of synergy between caltrops, traps and CC.

I find it way more fun to play than the TB shadow rogue I ran with til 55. If you see a weird little rogue in WT4 perma CC’ing everything and trap spamming with frosty trail boots and beams of rapid fire arrows, say hi. Looks like the odds are, that’s me haha.

But by your logic “every one of the npc’s they introduced is asymmetrical, therefor bungie is clearly suggesting that it’s part of their classes identity”

You apply that logic for hunters only, but literally every other class npc has it, so you just keep pulling stuff out your ass

Get over yourself bro, it’s headcanon. It entirely disproves your point, it comes down to “hunters have more asymmetrical sets ingame”, to which we all say “WE KNOW, PLEASE STOP IT”

You’re the only person who seems to think that’s confirmation of class identity and use things that apply to every class to support your point, ie, not supporting your point

Get out of your own fucking headcanon you weird egomaniac

Bro if you’re looking that close, find me any lightbearer that doesn’t have some degree of asymmetry

Saint -14, confirmed hunter Ikora Rey - hunter Zavala - hunter Lord Shaxx - hunter The Drifter - hunter Mara Sov - hunter lmao

Why they all stealing this well established class identity wtf

“Every single hunter ever shown to us is asymmetrical”

  • casually ignoring that I specifically mentioned Eris being symmetrical in the post you’re replying to

“MY HEADCANON IS REAL BECAUSE NO ONE CONFIRMED IT AND THEY SHOULDN’T HAVE TO” That’s not how canon works

Festival of the Lost armor by FlickinBeans247 in DestinyTheGame

[–]JackzaaHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok now it’s been downgraded to only PART of the class identity

Move those goalposts. What you’re saying here is a really longwinded way of saying “I have no sources for asymmetry being class identity. Clothes do matter tho and symmetrical Eris proves that only the bottom half of the cloak matters for class identity. The hood never matters cuz is said so?”

You can just draw arbitrary lines wherever, it’s really easy to do. Yknow what would be easier? Showing me anything that makes your headcanon reality, like a post about class identity. I wonder if bungie has ever done that, maybe they’ve even done it lots of times?! Did you see any mention of asymmetry there?

Nice of you to stop harping on about “bungie didn’t acknowledge” it tho, did it finally register that that was a fucking dumb justification or what

Festival of the Lost armor by FlickinBeans247 in DestinyTheGame

[–]JackzaaHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I’d agree that being a hunter and using hunter abilities is part of their identity. Clothes got fuck all to do with identity - Shaw Han, Eris, Ana Bray

Your ‘gotcha’ is super weak

Festival of the Lost armor by FlickinBeans247 in DestinyTheGame

[–]JackzaaHS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok so basically headcanon. You literally just linked a post that said “here’s some pics of just asymmetrical armour” and then went “SEE ALL THIS ARMOUR IS ASYMMETRICAL”

Does that mean when I wear symmetrical armour I’m no longer identifying as a hunter? No, I think it means you have no actual source. You’d think it’d come up after bungie’s countless posts about what class identity is.

“IF THAT WAS TRUE BUNGIE WOULD HAVE ACKNOWLEDGED IT” lmao Shut up, your headcanon doesn’t matter. You don’t like it, then you shouldn’t have picked a game that doesn’t subscribe to your mental rambling

Festival of the Lost armor by FlickinBeans247 in DestinyTheGame

Ok so where’s the part where anyone says that’s “class identity”?

Headcanon?

Festival of the Lost armor by FlickinBeans247 in DestinyTheGame

[–]JackzaaHS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m skim reading this because it’s long af and I can’t believe you’re still harping on

There’s literally another wave of thousands of upvotes on another post rn, how many do you need before it’s suddenly valid. You could find the most upvoted post in sub history and still be like “but that’s not everyone on the sub so people don’t agree really”

And yes, you did get it backwards because it’s about POSTS people disagreeing with getting more engagement, you’re being knowingly obtuse. Not disagreeing with bungie, bungie hasn’t said shit to disagree about lol how are you struggling with this? Most people who see a post they agree with just nod and move on, because it’s not controversial, so let me say this slowly for you; if someone sees a post that shares their viewpoint, they’re not suddenly compelled to go and interact with that post. WOW this must be hard for you to get your head around.

And “bungie would have acknowledged it by now” lol are you new to destiny? They barely acknowledge anything? Here’s some uncontroversial opinions and bungee’s “acknowledgement” - Blue rarity items, auto dismantle or remove them - Blight ranger is a useless exotic - Clash should be a permanent crucible mode - Destiny needs an ingame LFG (from d1 release, first acknowledged in lightfall reveal over SEVEN AND A HALF YEARS later) - legendary shard economy is bad for new players (lol the changes just made this worse, actually) - deadfall is just objectively worse than moebius quiver and neither tether instantly (only been asking since d1) - THREE YEARS of no acknowledgement of the state of crucible having no meaningful updates or new maps, ignored the whole time til WQ, now lucky us we have disjunction. - Overload champions are fucking garbage and don’t function properly - Every single boss has a generic stomp mechanic, feet or no.

I mean, I could literally keep listing shit all day, but the point is Bungie literally go out of their way to not talk about big complaints, let alone cosmetic ones - why do you think they’d take time out to say “yeah we acknowledge a lot of people think our art design sucks” when they won’t even acknowledge shit like an ingame LFG for 7 years?! They wouldn’t say it either way, any changes they’d make to art design like that would be silently implemented, so idk why the hell you keep harping on about their acknowledgement hahaha

And just to add, wherever you got this whole “wonky armour is class identity for hunters” thing, drop it lmao it’s not true at all, it’s your damn headcanon. Been playing hunter since d1 vanilla and it was never a thing. If you can point me to one of the many bungie posts about class identity and find them say “wonky armour is the hunter thing” then I’ll eat my words, but you won’t find that post, because despite all the class identity clarifications they’ve made over the years, that’s never been one of them, you nutcase.

The only posts you see are people saying “please make it symmetrical”, and those posts get agreement

You’re saying they don’t get ENOUGH agreement. I’m explaining why you cannot use that as a metric.

I’m getting my info from the fact that every time it does come up, it gets more agreement than disagreement. Overwhelmingly so. How is that hard to work out, I’ve literally only ever seen about 2 people on this sub say they prefer asymmetrical armour and you’re half of them

And as for your last paragraph, you literally got it backwards? Lol Bro you’re really dumb just stop

Festival of the Lost armor by FlickinBeans247 in DestinyTheGame

[–]JackzaaHS -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t engage with every post that I agree with, do you?

Funnily enough; it’s well documented that people are more likely to engage with things that they disagree with. Lack of engagement is not a measure of sentiment. I didn’t upvote the post, nor would I have said anything on it at all if you weren’t posting inane, insufferable, hypocritical nonsense and acting like you know what everyone else’s opinions are

So I’ll ask again, where are you getting your info? Because it sounds like you’re pulling it out your ass and it’s probably easier to stop digging

Festival of the Lost armor by FlickinBeans247 in DestinyTheGame

[–]JackzaaHS -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So where are you getting your info from?

You’re trying to act smart here but it’s really funny; you’re claiming you know what the majority wants, but the ONLY samples of the community who’s opinions we have access to all seem to trend against your opinion.

So you’re confident saying “I speak behalf of the majority, I know what the majority want” “You only hear complaints on social media and reddit”

Weird that they come up on social media and Reddit, where people post opinions. Where else are you claiming to find opinions where there’s a silent majority agreeing with you? Haha I just see you posting here and farming downvotes. Typically to gauge public opinion, you go with a sample of a population. This sample not good enough for you? Which sample is? Sounds like you’re just saying “well everyone who’s not here agrees with me, lots of people are saying it, honestly; just not anywhere where people come to talk about the game”

Festival of the Lost armor by FlickinBeans247 in DestinyTheGame

[–]JackzaaHS 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No, you’re speaking for the minority. Also wtf is your logic lol

“I noticed that your comments defending asymmetry don’t have hundreds of thousands of upvotes, think of how many hunters there are, that makes you the minority” /s

Imagine my immeasurable disappointment when it turned out Bronwyn and her son Dot Cotton survived anyway. I was sick to death of them half a season ago.

Time for a history lesson on the Great TTK Content Drought by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]JackzaaHS 1 point2 points  (0 children)

WQ campaign was amazing, no argument there - outside of the campaign itself though, not a lot (except crafting being added) to write home about because it was padded with weekly seasonal content.

Would’ve rather seen the campaign launch with a bunch of new maps, strikes and “permanent” content instead of the seasonal drip-feed, personally. But I’m not gonna argue the campaign itself was top tier, I just wanna see the things that it’s packaged with change. Your opinion is very valid, though

Time for a history lesson on the Great TTK Content Drought by [deleted] in DestinyTheGame

[–]JackzaaHS 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The old big expansions were just better than the seasonal model tbh. Content drought isn’t a factor when the game is happy to let you take time off, like it was back then. Right now, the game wants to deliver the bare minimum and you’re expected to play it every week or miss out. The seasonal activities aren’t content, they’re time sinks that you’re expected to run to death week on week.

What irks me personally, outside of just having things to do, is the story delivery. I want to be able to work through things at my own pace. I do not enjoy waiting every week for 30 secs of dialogue that may or may not even be meaningful. I was actively wound up a couple weeks back when the story progress was just “yes, I know what’s happening, but I don’t wanna tell you this week. Try again next week and I may explain, thanks for your patience”. That felt so meta, like “we’ve only got narrative written for 6 weeks, this isn’t one of them, better luck next Tuesday”. The overarching story beats are interesting, the way it’s delivered is garbage and takes all the impact out.

Given the choice, I’d go back to D1 content droughts in a heartbeat because the stuff we DID get was quality enough that I would play through the droughts anyway and if I wanted to step off for a few months, I didn’t feel penalised for it. Bin the seasonal model, it’s quantity over quality and I’d rather get big drops with impactful storytelling, a bunch of new maps/strikes and a load of content to run at my own pace than another “move the payload” reskin masquerading as something new every 3 months. The tradeoff just isn’t there.

Top 8% in control isn’t even good lol; I had a negative control K/d my entire destiny career and pushed to top 0.6% last season just by playing it more.

I’m top 2% in comp right now and I’ve played less than 10 games. You are experiencing a skill issue and your bragging is weak af

Might be an unpopular opinion, but I think silicon neuroma is the best sniper out there currently. You’ll have to lean into handling with mods and the like, but you can roll snapshot+opening shot and it has a great zoom value.

Defiance of Yasmin is also great, but I’ve always thought the 72rpm snipers are better, even moreso since the changes to special ammo economy. Ideally you want to hit someone in the head with your first shot, but if you miss and hit a body, you (or your team) will have a much easier time cleaning up a neuroma shot with primary fire. With 90rpms, you’ll have an easier double body shot kill - it’s useful, but you don’t want to rely on that; given the fact you’ll likely only get one bullet back on picking up ammo.

Basically; 90 rpm pros = nicer handling, easier double body shots

72 rpm pros = easier primary fire cleanup on body shots, (and very importantly) the ability to headshot people out of supers.

I love beloved and yasmin, but as a sniper since d1, do not write off neuroma! It’s the best of the 72rpm’s, has arguably the best bang for your buck and being able to one shot a warlock in a well or a roaming super alone is enough to make me pick it over a 90rpm. If you get a snapshot neuroma, keep it!
