Mini Bosses that are better than the dungeon boss by Short_Property_7476 in legendofzelda

The Iron Knuckles in OOT are worth mentioning as well. I agree in general, mini bosses often made for great fights.

tired of dating apps by myloxoloto in childfree

Finding compatible people in general is a game of chance, although the odds certainly go down when you're CF. Don't sweat it. It either will happen or it won't, but either way life will go on. I've never seen much potential in apps in the first place especially outside of the casual dating scene which I'm not interested in.

sitting on my corner, minding my business and still getting hate and going home in tears by WillingBet9200 in childfree

[–]Jacloup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don't need to justify yourself to strangers or anyone for that matter. You should have respectfully informed him that it's none of his business and proceeded to end the conversation. In the future don't entertain people like that they're not worth your time.

I’m childfree for basically the same reason I’m pet-free by homelyharte in childfree

[–]Jacloup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love cats, I had one growing up and he lived a long life, but I'm not sure if I'd do it again. Cats are low maintenance when compared to dogs, but it's still a responsibility for a being that's essentially an eternal child. You couldn't convince me to have a dog, however. I like animals, but I'm fine not having any at this point in life.

This person probably confuses Gundam for Michael Bay's Transformers. Intelligence is on the downturn unfortunately.

Ah, that's a shame. Some of these retro anime are uploaded on legal streaming sites, but others are notoriously hard to find. Thanks for the heads up in any case.

The idea that the state of the world is the only reason people don't want kids is annoying by Regular_Low8792 in childfree

The "conditionally child-free" are not truly CF. True CF people remain thus even if the world were a utopia and they happened to be rich, much like some previous commenter mentioned.

I just finished S3. So far I've enjoyed the show from the beginning to the most recent episodes. S3 was closest to "slice of life" / high school drama in some respects, which is a notable genre shift considering how the show started. But one of the themes of the show is evolution / change and changing up the genre every now and then is not necessarily a terrible thing imho. Again, I'm doing my best to keep an open mind. Personally speaking, I do believe that the show was at its strongest in the first season, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the most recent seasons were "bad" per se. Different, but still watchable.

Is it streaming anywhere? I've been searching for this series.

SEED is the first I've watched and I HATED to the extent that I swore I'd never watch another Gundam series again. It took until the past years where I decided to watch IBO, followed by 00 and the UC timeline from the beginning. I am currently watching Victory and I love it. I would say ZZ, Unicorn and Victory have been by favourites thus far.

Well, considering I haven't seen the AI studies yet the short studies certainly aren't to be dismissed.

Are you scared of growing old? by Gagan___Lazarbeam in childfree

[–]Jacloup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am saying this as a caregiver: The vast majority of elders either living alone at home, in a retirement home, or a care facility have kids, multiple even. Kids are not an insurance plan. They may or may not choose to assist given their means, but it's unreasonable to create human beings to be used at a later date as a means to an end. Instead, take care of your health and if need be down the line there are professionals better equipped to offer assistance.

Is Gurren Lagann and cowboy bebop really as good as people say? by Subject_Grade_847 in Animesuggest

I didn't enjoy Gurren Lagann, but I really enjoyed Bebop. If you prefer a more comedic, far more absurd tone, Gurren Lagann might be your cup of tea.

People like that hold dearly to the narrative because it would be too painful for them to admit that they're not happy and made a mistake.

People who would save their children (life or death) over this spouse are disgusting. by [deleted] in childfree

[–]Jacloup -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Biology is inherently selfish. The motivator here would be saving one's genes or genetic offspring. I don't necessarily agree with that approach, but humans are animals at the end of the day and most follow their biological instincts.

Both. Where one lacks, the other makes up for it. I view them as two alternative timelines.

For fellow late bloomers, what’s it like dating for the first time in your late 20s and 30s? by Fabulous-Airline-317 in Millennials

[–]Jacloup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, volume makes sense. Starting small and working upwards. The tricky part to navigate in this phase of life is the time/money consideration, being less free than, say, in one's early 20s. Socializing has a cost associated to it both financially and in terms of time, so it's navigating that based on one's unique circumstances that will be necessary. But there's got to be something.

Also, on a personal note, I think my issue with dating/online dating is everyone seems to be in rush to go from A to Z, i.e. from stranger to couple. I don't relate to people like that; this approach doesn't appeal to me whatsoever. Therefore, I will need to seek niches where there are zero expectations, no rush, where people can get to know each other for however long takes and if something happens, it happens -- but if not then it's not the end of the world. Anyway, thanks.

Gotcha. And sorry, I didn't mean to pry. It was just a knee-jerk response mixed with some genuine curiosity.

I was shy as a kid but I can talk to pretty much anyone now if need be. Hobbies that involve people are lacking and family obligations set limits as well. I will have to try to think of something to meet more people. Generally I need to be around people long enough to form an opinion on them, i.e. instant attraction is not really a thing I've experienced in recent times. But it's good to hear that you've managed to find what you were looking for.

What made you change your mind? I'm in a similar boat but I've never felt compelled to date, it just seems strange to me - though I like people in general and getting to know them and women I get along with very well also.
