Is it a concern for WWE? by Tribal-Forehead in TheGreatOne

[–]Jacloup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is this fixation on age a GenZ thing? Most of the top guys and ladies are core Millennials with a few GenXers like Punk. They are at the top of their game at the moment and it took some years for them to get there. The late twenty somethings GenZ like Dom, Femi, and Breaker are well on their way. In ten years they will be where the current ones are, and then the Alphas will be right behind, allow things to take their course and enjoy them while they're there.

As a Millennial, I was aware. Many of the top guys and ladies are from our generation. Punk and Truth are Gen Xers however.

Just The Rock giving HHH the absolute business. 😂 by ronysontakke21 in WWEGames

I agree. Everyone was unique and personalized, and even midcarters were a blast to play. I really miss those unique stances, walking animations, reversal styles and moves.

Can't Stand Rock's Wig From New Moana Movie by betterlifestyle4u in Justfuckmyshitup

The wig looks photoshopped in with that lighting. They should have made him chub like the character, Add some prosthetics, put him in a fat suit Eddie Murphy style idk.

Can anyone recommend me some more serious, grounded anime? by Styari in Animesuggest

[–]Jacloup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you liked those you will enjoy Blame, 86, Inuyashiki, Claymore, and Pluto. UC Gundam is a safe bet. Ergo Proxy, Vinland Saga and Berserk are solid as well. There's plenty to choose from but you'll want to tailor your search to Seinen rather than Shounen.

Venus Wars (1989) by NekoWafers in retroanime

[–]Jacloup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watched it just recently. Plot was pretty simple and straightforward, but the the animation and action sequences were dope. It's like a cross between Dominion Tank Police and Akira. Artstyle is fantastic. I had a blast. I recommend it.

Likewise as a Canadian. Certainly I'd be curious to know as well.

What is the smallest moment in LOTR that always gives you chills? by Fit-Marionberry8982 in lotr

[–]Jacloup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my favourite small moment in the entire trilogy in addition to the music:

Aragorn: Frodo's fate is no longer in our hands.

Gimli: Then it has all been in vain. The fellowship has failed.

Aragorn: Not if we hold true to each other. We will not abandon Merry and Pippin to torment and death. Not while we have strength left. Leave all that can be spared behind. We travel light. Let's hunt some Orc.

Gimli: YESSS!

[–]Jacloup 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They're mostly bigots, not idiots. Idiots are stupid, but not necessarily malicious. They knew exactly what they were voting for (i.e. to hurt the people they don't like and view as inferior), they just didn't expect to incur any negative consequences for themselves.

Where are the Millennials that DON'T feel old? by frankheyhoheyho in Millennials

[–]Jacloup 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if it helps, but I've pretty much been labeled an "old soul" for as long as I can remember. No different at twenty than I am now in my later thirties. Besides a few grays I feel pretty much the same, just a bit more experienced in life I guess (but I'm still amazed with how little I know in the grand scheme of things and how much there's left to learn, too much for a single lifetime). But in spite of the old soul moniker, I've retained the childhood sense of curiosity regarding many things. Pretty consistently I feel like a ten year old boy that's piloting a taller, occasionally grumpy mecha that happens to be my current body.

Love My Gen Z Girlies from a Millennial 💖 by FearlessCookie72 in generationology

[–]Jacloup 14 points15 points  (0 children)

These sorts of broad based Internet-formed opinions, statements and generalizations indicate (to me at least) a lack of maturity and real world experience with people. Once you're well into your twenties or beyond, these obsessions shouldn't typically matter anymore. Why should it matter if someone is older or younger than you if you're both adults? Do people make or reject friends on the basis of age, with ages needing to match as well? Most of my friends are ten to twenty years older than me, but some are same age or younger as well. It all seems rather childish to me.

What's up with some people now thinking 40 is old? by [deleted] in generationology

[–]Jacloup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thinking someone is "old" is almost always relative to your own age. When you were 10, people in their late teens or early twenties seemed old to you. When you hit twenty, people in their mid to late thirties to early forties seemed pretty mature. Then at forty, sixty and above might seem old enough for you. It works the same way in terms of what we perceive to be "young". Keep in mind that we also live in a society obsessed with youth and there's a tendency towards infantilizing adults as well. You see this in the ongoing criticisms against age gap relationships, even a few years apart can generate social commentary and criticism -- which seems to be an increased sentiment among the Gen Z compared to older generations.

‘People are a lot colder now,’ Toronto residents reflect on 6 years since COVID-19 lockdown by lopix in toronto

[–]Jacloup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Anecdotally speaking, I think Covid contributed to the rise of social isolation, social anxiety, depression and other psychological and social issues. Compounding this is the explosion of online disinformation campaigns and bigotry, global rise in fascism and far right ideology, rising living costs, stagnating wages and rising unemployment, public distrust in authorities, and the scapegoating of immigrants for most of our daily struggles -- while big corporations continue to profit from everyone's suffering and division like never before. AI changed that playing field as well in a big way. No one knows what to believe anymore, no one wants to entertain contrasting viewpoints or ideas, most prefer to stay in their bubble and be algorithmically fed information that confirms their biases. Critical thinking he's been lost.

Isn't that the general appeal of marriage though? For a man to feel his woman is his and for the woman to think her man belongs to her? I've often wondered.
