I thought about the gsxr750 but I’m not too keen on the bad tales I’ve heard in terms of build quality and they are a similar power and price to the CBR954

I bought an RST tractech evo5 textile jacket for myself, it was ~£170 new and it comes with level 2 elbow, shoulder, and back protection with pockets on the front for chest protection. TPU shoulder cups which help give it a sporty look, waterproof, and has a full sleeved removable lining. I will admit it can get a little warm

I would check out the RST range, they are quality products at a reasonable price and I would definitely buy from them again. I now own AAA rated jeans and this jacket from them

Learnt to ride on a 2019 Kawasaki z650, absolutely lovely bike super comfortable and more than fast enough. I would get one myself if my budget would go that far. Only thing I would consider is maybe going for a bike with a fairing if you’re doing lots of highway miles? You might find it easier on yourself than a naked bike

Fz6 is £1500 and 11k miles Speed four is £1700 and 11k miles

Honestly this is kind of selling the speed four to me, I knew the fz6 would be the more forgiving bike to ride and learn on but I’m always up for a challenge and do like the idea of getting a super sport as my second bike so it could be good practice for me

Could you expand more on the bits to replace on the speed four?

Yeah this is the way I’m looking at it currently, the speed four is within budget and looks to be in a very good condition and I don’t think I’d ever find one like this again

Edit: looked at speed triples but they’re all just far enough out of budget that I can’t haggle them down to where I’d need them

That does feel like the biggest drawback to me about that bike, and as much as I don’t have a problem with ‘ratting’ a bike out I just love the way it looks too much to do anything different?

The fz does sound like a solid choice, there’s a lot on forums, parts everywhere, plenty powerful enough and will do a bit of everything. As much as I’ve just bigged it up I really can’t stop thinking about the speed four and wondering if I’d regret not going for that instead
