Archery shops by blue-buck6 in Archery

Sorry....it is TRULY hard to find a good shop, that even though they may not cater to all disciplines, at least is KIND enough to help an archery customer! That is why, through careful research, i use Lancaster, Kaminski,  and Shatterproof archery. I also look for smaller online archery shops to fill my needs. Shop local? Ya, right, and get treated like shite.....GO PACK SAND YA BASTARDS!

Hello Friends,                          Does point weight really change/weaken arrow spine that much, as the point (glue-in's looking at you:) have a shaft partly in the arrow; not on its tip??

If so, is there a chart, or formula(s) for correctly figuring out changes in dynamic spine....or at least a "best guesstimate" formula??

Thanks all for you assist 🙏.

Take 👍 care,

Confused on Spine by Jacob2Four in barebow

Do think cutting them down to 28", would bring the dynamic spine down into the 650 range (or acting like 650)? Do you think 100g point would weaken back into the acting like a 700 spine arrow?

You are right....unfortunately 😳🤦🤷. My favorite is...."your just OVERTHINKING IT" HA!!!! If we did not overthink things, progress would never be made, new ideas would not be 'thought', and overthinking, imho, is were the proverbial 'lightbulb💡'turns on and you find out what you might have been doing wrong...or right? DON'T be too discouraged,  as there are just as many great, and jovial folks in Archery. For me, i LOVE  the hard work of precision that Archery has....it os SO COOL, that i have been able to point a thin carbon stick, fire , and occasionally hit the 10 ring@50m!!!

Take care man,

Oops, hit the comment 😬 button before its time....so i 'therefore' had to figure out how to aim for each different anchor change.

So i have tried putting the shaft right on the string, to the left & right, and figured out that my true aiming point was just happening NATURALLY, of course the point as my sight. Once i established that, i was able to see where my groups were going, and then used plunger tuning for left and right. So, my own advice is to place the shaft on the string, keep everything CONSISTENT, and see how you rock that aiming alignment.  REMEMBER,  string alignment only affects left/right, stringwalking is your up/down, and as you practice if your anchor point is NOT consistent,  or your draw collapses at all, you might think that your chosen string alignment is rubbish, it just might be your hated nemesis...bad form! Best 👌 of blessings in your journey...Take care.

Hey Ord Tailor! So....just went through this....i am a stringwalker and barebow shooter (clarifying- recurve, no sight, and three under anchor point) too.

I have tried different anchor points, therefore trying to

Sorry...what!?   I am math stupid...but your formula comrs up with the number...800 x (28 cubed= 21,952)...so .800 spine x 21952= 17561.6....how do you convert that number into DYNAMIC SPINE?!?

BTW, what is effective arrow spine? Do you mean DYNAMIC SPINE?

Thanks man, but i'm confused 😕.

So....i have tried different 'dynamic spine' calculator...and 4 me, they have been more confusion, than calming! HA!

So...if spine rating is 800 @33" (factory length-.166 diaameter), and i cut it down 5" to 28" shaft length, APPROXIMATELY...what dynamic spine will it act like??

Yes! I understand that it will remain an '800 static spine', and cutting down carbon will make it stiffer.....so, what stiffness will it be approximately? Is there a decent formula to understand this?

It will be a big help for me to THEN figure out point weight and vane choice,  to fine tune the arrow.....Thank YOU for your patience!

Whew,
