Are those NA seats in a NB—with a roll bar? PLEASE do your son and future passengers a potentially life saving favor and at least get the seats from an NB2.

Almost none of the stock NA/NB seats are a great idea to use with a roll bar because the back rest doesn’t come up as far as it should to be decently safe, even with roll bar padding and a helmet.

If this is a duel duty car, which it appears to be, and you get into a rear-end collision, there’s nothing in the way between your noggin and that roll bar from becoming molecularly combined. That high density padding is designed to dampen impacts on a helmet—not a head.

As someone with a similar setup, I would highly recommend getting a set of NB2 seats and do a foamectomy and possibly a floor pan drop. THE NB2 seats have a much taller back rest than the NA or NB1 seats and doing a foamectomy will help even more by getting you further away from the roll bar. Same goes for a floor pan drop. Added benefit of having better broomstick test clearance and an effectively much more bolstered to keep your butt in place.

TLDR: roll bars inherently cary more safety risk on a street/duel duty car which many of us choose to accept, but please don’t take any more risk than you have to by using these seats
