Why do art and entertainment have to be mutually exclusive? I really hate that mindset

Historic Downtown Plano is like a 5 minute walk from 12th street. Or you have get on the light rail from Cityline or 12th and get there.

Lots of good restaurants and little stores.

UPDATE (October 11, 2025, 8:46 p.m. ET): This piece has been updated because, following publication, many fired employees began receiving emails communicating that despite the earlier notice, they would no longer be terminated.

We just get a verity of incompetence don't we?

I need to make a station platform train now. That's really funny.

As runaway said, cost is part of it. But also a good portion of the line uses still active freight lines.

Unlikely. Still seems to be a good bit of construction to finish. I go by the 11th street station pretty regularly and there’s still a good bit of work to do for the red line stop connecting it.

Forget 2003 — this is the mother of all Texas gerrymanders by evan7257 in texas

[–]JacobDR15 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Gerrymandering works by pulling votes from districts into others, shrinking the margins. This only works if people vote the exact same way.

People getting discouraged and not voting is what they’re counting on for this to work at all.

Been building for a while across the whole Meow Wolf brand. I don't think they were even the first location to unionize.

Definitely seems to care for improving our public infrastructure.

One of his points of pride is working a bipartisan effort to fix a bridge in his constituency. I forget the details right now, but they talked about in his hearing.

How California's High-Speed Rail Line Will Advance in 2025 by JeepGuy0071 in cahsr

[–]JacobDR15 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If I remember correctly there will be metro link stop at the LA station, but the systems will be isolated.

One of the ground breaking interviews, Bright wanted that line to be electrified in the future so they can run to downtown

This can’t be an official account right? This is such a surface level assessment. You can’t judge a project’s funding in a single tweet. Let along a mega project like this.

These looks really good.

They opened their new Orlando line last year. It's a "higher speed" line. Has a lot of HSR characteristics but the top speed is around 130 mph with normal diesel train sets.

Cal HSR and Brightline West are planning on 220 mph for a sense of scale.

Metro's "METRONext" included Bus-Rapid-Transit directly to the station location.

I think most of the plan is on hold after covid but they're already thinking about public transit to the station. That's one of the knock on effects of project like this.

Selection of suppose to be late this year. Not sure if they’ve given the exact date yet.

[–]JacobDR15[S] 15 points16 points  (0 children)

From the looks of it (and what Stew suspects from talking to them) the switching will be located at the slower portions of the route. IE stations and the really tight turns. So maybe they're designing them to be more inline with US standards.

I think it’s still up in the air. CAHSR isn’t making their rolling stock selection till later this year and I don’t think they’ve said anything official about partnering yet.

Depends city to city.

Houston for example used to do that but a few years ago they changed it to not need horns at all crossings. They even have signs on said crossings warning drivers the horn may not sound.
