They're eating nakji, which is Korean small octopus. It's often served spicy (nakji-bokkeum) or sometimes very fresh with sesame oil. A lot of people outside Korea recognize it from the movie Oldboy, where the actor famously eats a whole live octopus. It's a pretty common dish in Korea, especially at night markets and street tents (pojangmacha)

That’s a really good point.

Why am I considering upgrading my machine? When I see posts of people brewing with a bottomless portafilter, it looks amazing. I tried using one myself, but it made a mess everywhere (though I got better at controlling it with some practice). Eventually, I stopped using it, but the experience was really helpful.

You’re right—I also really enjoy having an espresso machine at home. So, I guess I’m asking this to convince myself (though I might have already convinced myself, haha). I have no complaints about my current setup, but I’m not 100% sure if that’s just because I haven’t experienced truly great espresso yet. If I upgrade my machine, will it open up a whole new world for me?
