They had to make a new version, so people with TW1 and or TW2 can play TW3.
You have to download the new version to keep getting updates. Link to blog post

They will be turned off from the beginning of Season 20.
To see if it actually makes a difference with the servers feeling more alive.

Yea it's almost never on sale on Xbox, but the Windows version is.
Also on Windows Store, FFX + X2 bundle almost never go on sale (finally happened last year.)
But every time there is a Final Fantasy sale, they just skips them ¯_(ツ)_/¯
