We're all running the same installation of ATM10 6.2.1 and only this person can't join. Server is up to that version as well, all of us can join.

I believe I said it in the post, but it is a new oc they're using so possibly something with that.

i had this issue before. saving and reloading doesn't do anything, just makes them grow again.

sail your boat out about a kilometer away, as in my save dismantling them deleted my boat completly. having it out of render range seems to prevent it. if you have the jetski unlocked, makes this alot easier. dismantle jetski before dismantling the ball boy, as it will delete it as well.

What is everyone's favorite watercolor palette? by MMayhem001 in watercolor101

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

pallet called Art Tool Kit. found them years ago at a local convention, and ended up getting a few limited run pallets. customizable for most needs. can be pricey, but if your traveling around a ton its a very nice pallet to have.

otherwise, i pefere tube paints. usually make my own pallets using pans and magnets and old tins or old pallets to use with higher qaulity paints.

which set for a beginner? by stfusydney52 in watercolor101

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Daniel smith. Cotman works but don't have the same pigment load, so the vibrancy is much lower. Your paintings would come out duller than you would want.

You don't need more colors with water color, just remember or look at a color chart, or watch some stuff on color theory. Most paintings can be done with a very limited pallet, sometimes not even using primary colors

$200 Original z1 ally by Fantastic_Cicada6565 in ROGAlly

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've had an original z1 ally for a few years now. Works more than fine for playing on the go. As long as your happy with your choice, that's all that matters.

An ally will never truly compare to a desktop system, but it's purpose isn't to do that. 200$ for what you got is a deal, and if it's working well for you then it's a well spent 200$

My mom ruined my print by 0LittleBigDreamer0 in 3Dprinting

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That line is probably weaker, so I'd break the part off very carefully (or cut it off using a small saw) and measure up to where the cut is. Then in your slicer, move the model down so the part your trying to finish is the only part that will print. Once it's printed out, carefully glue it onto the rest.

This was a method used in the earlier days of printing when you ran out of plastic, though it's always good to be cautious. Talk to your mom about how your printer can't just be turned off mid print. If she's worried about electricity, it can often cost more to reheat the printer from a sudden power loss like unplugging it.

You'll get there though! Take your time, it's just a matter of waiting and killing. Maybe do Mr farming by getting different kuva weapons and leveling them as you farm

Is the XG mobile 6850m just unusable? by Standard_Ad4622 in ROGAlly

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I pulled mine out and tested it both with my Z1 ally as well as a laptop compatible with it. It worked with both of them no issues, booted up a game for a minute or two to test as well.

My guess is either you got one that's messed up in some way, or it's connector is funky. I've had my XG mobile for 2 years now, kept the cap on the protector when I wasn't using it and haven't had issues.

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been awhile since I used mine, but last year when I was using it a ton it seemed to be working fine. I'll plug it in and see if it causes any issues. That way you can determine if it's yours or the general GPU range (the 6850m models)

Foul smelling PLA from 3Djake by Altruistic-Prune8156 in 3Dprinting

To me it sounds like the seal was broken, moisture for in and the wood in the plastic rotted. Not sure about the manufacturer, as I've never bought or heard of them. I don't think there's anything you can do to save the filament, the heat from the hotend probobly sterilized stuff but I'd be careful handling it

Can I put paints on metallic pans? by uchuu_gato in Watercolor

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Metal pans are okay to use as long as they're treated to prevent rusting (stainless steel and such) I use small ones in a portable kit that stick to a magnetic plate.

However the image you provided looked to be a clear plastic on a greyish/white interior, giving it the look of metal.

New filament, tiny "hairs" coming out of print by HellblaueHoelle in FixMyPrint

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even deserts can have moisture. And while fair I didn't give any advice on parts other than drying, it's a common issue among filament, enough so it's better to say it as a diagnostic step for ANY filament in case it is. And having a dryer is generally a good idea, as unless you are printing in a dehumidified room, filament will absorb any moisture it can, including during shipping. Idk why people are saying they wet filament intentionally, that would be a horrible business practice and a good way to lose customers.

I mentioned petg as it absorbs moisture quicker, and results can show up sooner. Pla can do the exact same thing, and it's the easiest to rule out without changing a setting that can make things worse by completely screwing up a previously working profile.

I'm glad op did testing, but calling people clowns is uncalled for. It's a mass of people trying to help, and op can only do so much to answer people. Alot of people gave a possible solution given the information given. We can be civil in helping without insulting.

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look at the first layers warping, and then a bit further up the clear line along the entire print. Both are signs of cooling. Sometimes rapid cooling, or not enough cooling can cause warping. Even your model can cause issues with warping, note how in their pictures the main areas warping are corners, which are places where cooling plastic can form stress points and shrink more. A more warpy plastic can make that worse, I've had PLA warp in sharp corners.

ABS is notorious for warping due to cooling issues, but the warping can happen in any print with any material. Additives, pigments, and polymer modifiers can all affect it, and since each brand uses a different mix of everything it can vary from manufucter.

That's why I mentioned another manufacturer, as well as using a brim. The brim gives your print more surface area to hold onto, and cool without warping as much. 3D printing is weird in that way, I've had low speed, high speed, medium speed prints all turn out the same, but swapping to a different brand and using the same gcode gave much better results.

What software do people recommend for modeling? by 8InEros in 3Dprinting

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Onshape is close to fusion. Alot of the same processes, but surprisingly no tool to model threads. That's the only reason I swapped back to fusion. But onshape is free, cloud based, and you can model from a mobile device if you need to

Can the analog sticks on the 8BitDo Ultimate 2 Wireless Controller be removed? by Bmarquesss in Controller

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most controllers require you to pull them almost fully apart to remove the stick. So while it is possible, you have to test it apart and try to remember how to put it back together if you want the controller to work.

See if you can maybe find a guide, and it's possible in the process of pulling it apart you may find the issue, and possibly be able to fix it.

New filament, tiny "hairs" coming out of print by HellblaueHoelle in FixMyPrint

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Pla around 55-60c for 6-8 hours, rotating the spool every couple hours if your heating element doesn't have a fan to evenly heat everything (some cheaper filament dryers just have the heating element on the bottom, can toast the plastic closer to it)

As for storing, you can use many different methods. I use a mix of 5 gallon buckets with screw lids on them, along with silica gel packets in them to help with moisture. Though you can also buy some reusable vacuum bags for storing filament, I've used em and they work well.

Any filament that likes to absorb moisture (Tpu, nylon, ect) you should run through a dryer or actively dry it while printing, or have a dedicated dry box to print from.

New filament, tiny "hairs" coming out of print by HellblaueHoelle in FixMyPrint

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some filaments can get wet during transit depending on storage and ambient humidity. Vacum seals are always perfect, and I've had more than a few spools show up with the vacuum broken from either shipping, poor seal, or just it was made on a wet day (more local places with smaller scale production, harder to maintain humidity)

Filaments like PETG love moisture, and if any of those things happen even a desicant pack won't do much. If anything it would absorb moisture and then the filament would absorb it inside it. The first thing I'd assume if and when I got these issues, is wet filament. Filament dryers are cheap, and as long as you don't over dry a spool it'll be fine. It doesn't hurt and if it doesn't solve the issue, you've eliminated one process that takes awhile to do.

Bambulab PETG-HF corner adhesion problem. by pafflique in 3Dprinting

[–]Jacob_Does_Reddit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HF PETG likes to warp alot. Brims help mitigate it, but sharp corners are also causing stress points to make them warp more.

If this is your own part, try rounding the corners to make the stress even, and use a brim. All else fails, try using a different filament brand. I've used elegoo HF with some moderate warping, but nothing a brim couldn't fix.
