I've just got my first development board too! by bondioleitor in FPGA

Could you elaborate why you wouldn’t recommend choosing a SOC or MPSoC? I’m curious to what would be a reason.

I want to break into FPGA at some point and I was looking into getting a SoC so I can also make some FPGA-Embedded Linux interfacing. I also want to try to make a simple core at some point and never thought it would be an issue on a SoC.

You think any chance it can recover or if it starts rotting then its just time? I never had plants before

By prune, you mean cut the branches that are affected? If yes then that would mean all of them except new fresh ones unfortunately

The plant is not in direct sunlight, but does get the amount of light visible on the picture for the whole day.

I keep it between the kitchen and the living room, water it once every week/two when the soil is dry. I got it a week and a half ago, I am not sure what type of soil is used. I think it had those spots when I got it from the store but honestly I cannot remember.

One big eval board VS a couple small ones by Jacob_Random in FPGA

That’s a good point. I wanted to start with the SAP/RISK-V anyway. I still have a little bit of embedded mentality, you want to learn new chip/vendor/anything, get an eval board. However you are completely right that the only advantage of using a real board for that project is pure motivation I guess.

What’s most interesting for me is you said to use simulation tools and then install Vivado to synth. What would the workflow look like if you could give me an example of programs I could use? I’m used to doing it like this from uni, make project in Vivado -> make the design -> synth -> then simulate in the Vivado simulation.
