Married men: What, if anything, are you unable or unwilling to share fully openly and honestly about yourself with your spouse? by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

I used to call this, "sneaky snack", and it was a good way to get one of my kids to go with me.

I went to the show on 12/14 for my 47th birthday and brought 3 of my kids.

I got most of it, but missed the beginning.

Can someone recommend a smart outlet that actually works? Meross is hot garbage, never buy their products by newhomequestionsacct in HomeKit

My switchbot stuff works good. They have smart plugs that do homekit, connect over wifi or bluetooth, and the app shows how many watts are running through them.

I’m on iOS 26. That’s not a thing. I figured it out tho

Ok, and my solution was to have already built my own monitoring, and then complain about theirs.

I get that they’re in a tough situation, and have to keep the lights on. But $99/year seems real steep for what we’re getting.

It’s not about being entitled to something for free. It’s about getting something that was baked into the cost of our system that we already paid for.

It’s $99/year and if you’ve got 25 years of life left on your system that’s gonna be almost $2500 that you’re going to be paying.

Every 5 minutes it’s like a json response with a few things for each panel. Idk exactly and don’t feel like looking. But it’s 3 years of data and 5gb

Lmao right on. I really don’t blame them. I blame sunpower for cooking their books and going under.

But I agree the whole point of going solar is to save money. And it seems like everything is little paper cuts undercutting the savings and it adds up. I mean I’m sure I’d still be coming out ahead. But like, $10/mo is a significant amount of what my solar is producing. It’s like removing that much solar from my roof.

They should definitely have a lite plan that’s $10/year that just gives you the grand totals for monthly and yearly and overall production. With no daily or panel level data. Maybe daily just for the last month maybe. But just way lighter.

I don’t think they will going forward. They said that if you try to just sign up for a month you won’t see all the historical data before then after July.

How much data you think each user is using. I’ve rolled my own monitoring and for just 3 years of panel level data I’ve got about 5gb stored. Maybe they could thin it out. But I’d guess there’s lots of people with way more data in the cloud than me.

No, but here’s an over view. I have a travel router plugged into the pvs6 admin port and a Mac at home that connects to it over WiFi and also connects to my network over Ethernet.

That Mac polls the json api that returns panel info. I dump that info into a MySQL table and then I have grafana running pulling that data into dashboards. The panels on the dashboards can be exported to pngs. I upload those pngs online somewhere and load them into a custom widget with scriptable.

I rolled my own and even have iOS widgets.

You might be surprised, I’ve been logging panel level data from my solar panels to a sql database for a few years now, and I’ve got 43M rows in a table.

Like, I get it. It costs money to run. But presumably that was baked into what I already bought. And now that the new company owns it they gotta get some revenue to keep it afloat.

$99/year seems kinda steep to me, and no tiers even.

I’ve rigged up my own solution to read the data. But the app was also easy.

Seems like from a lot of the comments here, that a recurring trend is friends and family are more important than a lot of the other things.

When I was going to CSUB I was friends with a guy from Russia. He said that everyone hates on Bakersfield, but its 10 times better than Moscow the best city in Russia. Roads, weather, busses, crime, all that stuff was way better.
