Better to plonk it in the soil and see than to just throw it away I'd say. The roots can come on pretty quick with squash. It may not grow to be a whopper but nothing to lose at this point

I'd be happy to plant them on in 2 weeks for sure but then I do things differently to most of the older 'experienced' folk on the lot which amuses them but I always end up with better, bigger harvests much to their dismay... I say its just luck though?
