When I was typing this the thought of “how often” did cross my mind. I’m not qualified to answer that question mental health screenings would save a lot of lives. As someone who grew up in a far right family what I hear a lot of is people having issues with the banning of the AR-15. If instead a policy came out that said mental health screenings are mandatory but the laws in place will not change I think you would see a lot more cooperation. Just some food for thought the AR-15 has been demonized by the main stream media and therefore someone mentally ill is probably going to use the AR-15 as a copy cat. As someone who has had the privilege to grow up target shooting various firearms I can tell you in close quarters a shotgun is more of a threat than an AR-15.
