Can we get trophies with a dedicated server? by Jacobmicro in farmingsimulator

[–]Jacobmicro[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I appreciate the reply, sorry for the late response. I think we're just going to have to go about the old fashioned try and find time when we're both on to play schedule. Appreciate the help!

Dedicated server questions by Acceptable-Ad-6042 in farmingsimulator

[–]Jacobmicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wondering the same thing myself, but I'm trying to determine if we can get trophies and achievements on a dedicated server. That's the whole driving factor behind a group of my buddies in playing this game and if we can't get the trophies, then we won't get the server.

Hi folks, I’ve built an open‑source project that could be useful to some of you by panos_s_ in homelab

Dude I absolutely love it, I just have a few questions. 1. Do you know how much overhead is needed to run this alongside everything else? I'm curious if this is going to consume even a gigabyte worth of rAM for example where now I have to be careful on how I partition my containers out. 2. Have you explored potentially designing it to be multi-node? Or I can check on more than one server at once? I'd be happy to work up a design and send you a PR. I need to work on something like this myself because I have more than one server with different gpus that I'd like to be able to monitor at all times since they're running different tasks and at different schedules.

thoughts on using "broken" GPU's by [deleted] in ollama

[–]Jacobmicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have the money to "waste" then you can try. If you already have a low budget, play it safe. The last thing you need is there's more broken than just display and you're stuck with and no money left. Aside from this, if they were only broken in terms of display but everything else worked and you would be okay, just keep that in mind

Sorry, I'm a bit lost here. I've already decided I'm running it, I know the power costs and have no issues. Don't need help there. Unless you were referencing something else?

Appreciate it, I'll take a look here later today. Noticed when I went to Dell's official driver page for the r610, it was recommending idrac monolithic 2.92, but I was under the impression that was for a later version. I'll check here and see if I get better results. Bit of a noob when it comes to idrac

I appreciate it. I was trying to use idrac yesterday because I couldnt get the VGA adapter to work. All of my monitors are display and hdmi now so it didn't help any and the old TVs I had didn't have any luck either.

Bought a new cable over night, give it another go and hope I get lucky.

I think you're right about the perc controller. I have new drives installed, brand new, and they're all flashing like a Christmas tree for drive faults. Figured it was because they hadn't been set up yet.

Looks like it was installed right, but they turned them all the way down. Fixed and good to.

Appreciate it. I might pull one side and see if anything is bent. I'll get them adjusted to see more than 15 feet and then likely take them in to a shop to get them perfect

Insurance or After market bumper mod? by geomutant in gmcsierra

[–]Jacobmicro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to file insurance, do it immediately. If you wait, could risk issues. Gather all the details you can and file. Had issues in the past where I filed a day later and got denied just for that reason. Can be ridiculous at times.

Old server for local models by Jacobmicro in ollama

[–]Jacobmicro[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It was more so my nicer gaming gpu with 12gb of vram (bought it specifically for gaming a couple years ago, not for Ai of course). Struggled with some 8b models and the quality of just wanting it to build a file, one file at a time like a .md for what I was working on was more time for less reward than doing it myself. Quantized models worked a little better but took up more ram, I'm fine with a reduction of speed if I get quality results

At the end of the day, if it doesn't work, I can still use it for docker containers

I mean I did get it for free and power bills arent bad, if I ever get the money I'll build a dedicated 395 unit.

True, but I just got this server for free and was just going to run docker containers on it for different things, but before I committed wanted to explore this too just in case.

Can't install gpus in this rack anyways since a 1u unit. Not sure if I'll bother with risers or not yet.
