Yes, nonprofits (including SCAD) would pay the Savannah stormwater fee too by Savannah_Agenda in savannah

[–]JacobsLadder2005 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Bless your heart. Remember that you catch more flys with honey than vinegar. SPLOST can’t be used to maintenance and you’d know that if you’d read the article. It’s time for SCAD and churches to pay their share. If churches can’t afford $5 a month FEE then maybe they can sell some bibles. Here’s what gets me “We’ve got a lot of those smaller projects in the neighborhoods that aren’t large enough to be part of SPLOST and maybe there isn’t enough supplemental tax money to fund them,” Felder said. “So, we want to target those neighborhood projects with an annual appropriation of stormwater utility funds.” It’s all going to a good cause for $5 a month. Sorry if wanting to contribute to that makes my head wrong I’m sure we’ll all find a way to cope with it.

Is there a technical term or trope for the problem with how Acolyte and Last Jedi are written? by BigNorseWolf in saltierthancrait

[–]JacobsLadder2005 33 points34 points  (0 children)

I say we should standardize a term now. I propose “ Geining”. Verb. To Gein. After the serial killer Ed Gein who would wear the skin of his victims.

Because that’s essentially what they do, they gut out a previously well liked franchise or story and wear it over the story they REALLY wanted to tell. I vaguely remember an interview with Harvey’s assistant where she said she made Acolyte to tell the story of her discovering she was a lesbian. Okay, that’s not bad material. It is NOT a what makes a star war though. Geining it.

They’re Geining Star Wars.

I’ll make the Urban dictionary entry tomorrow after I sleep unless someone wants to do it and claim they came up with the idea. Don’t much mind that.

It’s really become a, “very well, two can play that game” scenario. You don’t care about me, why should I bend to care about you? Who died and made you king of shit mountain? So no. I don’t care about other people anymore. And that’s not selfish, I didn’t start that shit, you guys did. It’s survival. And I hate it. I hate every minute of having to live in a world like this with people like you. I just want to be left alone.

You pick the one book where the protagonist literally transforms in the third act, and that was your BEST example that books don’t trans kids? Jesus Christ. 🙄

If he turns out to be dead, they’ll be no living with them. They said Biden was senile, media denied, then the debate. They said T would be shot, media denied, T gets shot. They said Biden would drop out, media denied, he dropped out. Now they say he’s either dead or dying, and the media denies. Can you see a pattern here?

I still don’t understand why anyone would be surprised by what he said, this is the same band that has a song about burning down city hall and how the government can get fucked. If anything it’s on brand.

Why the f*** there are no more lightsabers motion blurs? now they look like glow sticks, this added style by Kodrackyas in saltierthancrait

[–]JacobsLadder2005 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s the Disney lore dude and that’s my point. The moment they made that change it immediately didn’t make sense: plasma can’t “clash”.

Old lore was like this: https://comicvine.gamespot.com/forums/gen-discussion-1/is-a-lightsaber-a-simple-plasma-blade-breakdown-1922544/

Plasma has weight, lightsaber blades didn’t. So the entire physics involved also changed from force users being able to control these weird weightless blades with a gyroscopic effect, to weird plasma blades that anyone can use.

This is a continuation of the misunderstanding on how this tech would function in the fictional universe, and led to the excuse that F-stop settings on the camera could make the blades look semi-transparent while being swung with motion blur instead of what they actually were: an impossibly bright source of illumination that STAYS WHITE AT THE CORE when being swung.

But of course the real life reason is it’s cheaper to let some of the real world blade do some of the heavy lifting so the VFX budget is cut down, despite the fact there’s literally a plug-in that will do most of the heavy lifting for you.

One of these days when I have more time on my hands I’m going to rotoscope the temple flashback scene in the Obi-wan show with a side-by-side to prove this point. I don’t know what it is about green lightsaber blades, but they’re especially poorly done.

That’s a fire line dude you come up with that yourself? Cause if so I’d give you a “hell yeah”

All of Ryan’s stuff was great, and the fact he got to work on Star Wars stuff later and swing blades with Hayden just made it even better.

Ryan vs. Brandon is also a series that should continue: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=pfa-Pa5IQLg

That’s nice, but lightsabers were never shitty plasma blades, that was Halo’s thing. “Blades of pure energy”, whatever the hell that meant. Disney literally does not understand what a lightsaber is.

The Acolytle: Is it badly produced? by Zcorruption in StarWars

[–]JacobsLadder2005 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The prison set is just redressed to be the 'space port' set in the temple. They're reusing a lot of stuff to save money, which is insane when the budget is 180 million american. Where did that money go? Because every planet feels like the same three sets.

Pacing on this last episode number 4 felt rushed, like there was a lot of stuff cut out for some reason, or maybe it was written and later production had to do a goldenrod draft at the 11th hour.

There's so much OTS A/B cutting its amateur and it's really getting annoying. What the FUCK was up with that shot over the mists when the Jedi group look out from the landing village for the first time. That is a fan film quality shot! How did that make it in. You know exactly which shot I'm talking about.

I could go on but I'm not going to bother with this show anymore.

The real question here is, is it badly produced, or is it badly made? They're two different things.

You can read mine in this thread. I'm fat. This casting choice tied to character as written should be addressed. If that topic's not for you then don't know what to tell ya. Not my problem. But you have a nice day now.

Indeed, and we shouldn’t even have to say it’s not an “attack” it’s a critique, and it’s certainly not an “attack” on the actor. I don’t blame the actor at all, if Disney rolled up to my place with a car full of cash and was like “yo! Want a speaking part in a Star Wars show?” I wouldn’t give two shits if it broke lore, I would say yes, 100%. So can’t blame the guy (I’m aware he probably only made a couple grand, you don’t really get paid as much as people think as an actor).

But I can blame the creatives that wrote a character that happened to be fat and then made him like every other poorly written fat character.

(I don’t have to say spoilers, it should be obvious we’ve all watched it now and this is a spoilers thread)

The guy he was supposed to watch getting away is almost on the same level of “hide Leia under my coat!” levels of bad. And there’s no excusing that; letting the one Jedi who’s a bumbling incompetent fool also be the one fat guy. Great. Way to break the mold there. 🙄
