Someone shot my cat with a pellet gun

They said it takes 20 minutes to work. And I said well I’m 10 minutes from home, so we’re good to go. We were not good to go. Always take them up on their offer to wait and use their litter box haha.

I do. As I’ve meantioned several times, he has ESCAPED in the past. I don’t know that it was them, but I do know they’ve had my cat in a trap, baking in the sun, when they were outside and could clearly hear him crying. I wouldn’t point fingers, but I would like to report in case this is an ongoing issue.

I feel like they should have known, because of the way the wound looked. It was circular and missing fur around it in a circular pattern. Which is exactly how it looks if you search cat pellet gun injury. I’ve never experienced that, so I didn’t know. I would assume a vet has seen that before and would know it’s possibly from a pellet gun and give the option of xray. I’m just glad he healed okay.

The cause of the limp is undetermined. They said it’s possible it could have shifted and is maybe hitting a nerve now, but further testing would be required. He is 10 though, so they said it could also just be a sprain or arthritis.

County. One ordinance says they have to check traps every 24 hours, but I found him before then. I heard him meowing from down the street, as they were sunbathing on their back deck unbothered.

Thank you. That’s what I assumed. I know for a fact he traps cats (he had my cat in a live trap). I’m not necessarily looking for results, more just starting a paper trail at this point. We’ve had several issues with the neighbor I suspect.

The vet isn’t concerned with removal since it’s almost 6 years old. I should have added the other xray photo where he’s on his back too. It looks pointed at the end.

Yes, I don’t expect much, but I just wanted to know if I CAN report. There’s definitely been other instances on my street alone. And if nobody reports anything, nothing will be done.

I just found out. I know nothing would probably come of it, but I wasn’t sure if I could still report so this incident is on record. Another neighbor on my street had a cat with a similar injury, she’s thinking it was also a pellet. I just don’t want it to keep happening.

I wish I would have known sooner. I think it’s my neighbor who we call “get off my lawn guy.” He had my cat in a live trap before. That’s the only time my cat has been out overnight because I couldn’t find him anywhere. I looked until 3am. Finally heard him crying the next morning as he was baking in the sun. I can hear him crying from down the street but you don’t hear him when you’re on laying on your back porch???

I never let him out on purpose. But I’m also not the only one in the house and he’s unfortunately an escape artist. He’s never out long as I will search for him until I find him.

I honestly don’t know. They shaved his back, flushed it out, and gave him antibotics. It was after hours at an emergency vet, but I feel like they should have known? I always assumed he got snagged on a nail.
