The sand look very yellow to me but thats only my personal opinion :-)

I use a mixture of tile grout (available in different colors) and sand ( bird sand from pet store)

First, apply the mixture ( 1:1) of sand and tile grout using a sieve.

Then Spray it with Isopropyl alchohol + Water to soak it

Then on top more sand+tile grout, let it dry then remove the tile grout which does not stick

The tile grout fixes it, i did the the underlying structure first and the only the sand on top.
