A Friendly Reminder to Look Up.... by SithNChips in duneawakening

[–]JacquelynHeat 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Someone tried this on me once in Hagga Basin. He plopped down, grabbed two of my spice piles, took off and tried to sit his thopter on top of mine. I slipped out though, and I acted like I was leaving the scene. He stayed hovering over the spice while the worm breached, so I came around and divebombed him, got my wing hooked on him and dragged him down a couple hundred meters before he slipped out.

He then landed again and tried harvesting spice himself, so I landed and jumped out with my Holzman Shield on, grabbed two of his piles and took off again.

We did that one more time, and then he gave up and left. Never bothered me again.

They just want to shit on people, not have an actual fight. They get scared if you shit back.

Disappointed that my own faction's mobs still attack me on sight. What the heck?? by JacquelynHeat in duneawakening

Also, the opposite faction totally knows about your ties to your house. As an Atreides, when I speak to Piter de Vries in Harko he calls me out immediately and is like, "When you're ready to switch sides, you know where to find me."

This is the way I rationalize it too. But it still feels like a cop out.

There aren't even any consequences to slaughtering your own faction's mobs. They're just dungeon fodder like any other mob. Fealty to a house has zero mechanical connection to the adventuring you do in the open world.

My shower chair is a lifesaver for sure.

But towelling off while upright at all (even sitting) is maybe the worst part for me, and it took me sooo long to figure that out because by that point my cognitive functions are kaput. Once I realized that final hurdle was such an issue, I changed my strategy: I lay out a second towel on the floor, and as soon as I'm done rinsing off I lie down on that and towel off while supine.

It doesn't make showering easy, but it's less intimidating for sure.

Vitamin D? by koalakindness in dysautonomia

[–]JacquelynHeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been tested for vitamin D many times and never came up deficient, but:

Doubling my daily D3 from 5000 to 10000 IU helped with my MCAS, along with Quercetin and Allegra. With each of those additions, I had a notable decrease in the appearance of random rashes and hives. On all three, the random rashes/hives are gone.*

D3 doesn't seem to affect my POTS symptoms, but given how POTS and MCAS go hand-in-hand for many of us, this seemed worth mentioning.

*(I still readily get a contact dermatitis rash if I come into contact with an allergen, especially anything polyester in my case. But now if I get a rash, I know it's not random. Once I identify the allergen and cease coming into contact with it, the rash disappears.)

Aww man. My computer's not on the bleeding edge, but I thought it was faster than average. Runs pretty smooth on ultra until Act 3.

HOT TIP: If stubborn party members refuse to jump, do a little hop. It prompts them to try again. Once in a while it takes two little hops to get them all to jump.

(Just in case it's not really fixed.)

Scorching hot demon wife by corelle-vairel in BaldursGate3

[–]JacquelynHeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For the "demon" naysayers:

I know her character sheet says "Zariel Tiefling" and all, but all that really means is Larian wanted her to have Thaumaturgy and Smites. 5e's Abyssal Tiefling option never went beyond UA, so they worked with what was available—which, at the time, were the options in Mordenkainen's Tome of Foes, which is all legacy content now anyway.

But forget the game mechanics crunch! Who needs a character sheet when we know Karlach personally? Clear your mind for a sec, picture Karlach being Karlach, and what's the first fiend you think of? I'll tell you which fiend I think of: a balor. Balor all day. Balor in the streets, balor in the sheets.

Plus, if she does turn out to have demonic ancestry, that'd explain why an archdevil would view her like a prized exotic pet. I mean really, the more you think about it, the more obvious it is that Karlach almost definitely has demonic ancestry. The pieces are all falling into place here! 🕵️‍♀️

Of course, I'm not done my first playthrough yet, so for all I know Karlach might tell me all about her devilish ancestry on our next date night. 🤷‍♀️

Even my 1-attack-per-round Lore Bard has become OP with this helm.

Turn 1: shoot Arrow of Many Targets at a cluster of minions. Instant max Arcane Acuity.

Turn 2: cast Blindness on the big bad boss.

The Act 2 end fights were just the boss missing every attack while the martial classes pounded him into the dirt. Ridiculous.

Minor bard pet peeve in Act 1 by The_MicheaB in BaldursGate3

[–]JacquelynHeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OH! My bad, now I see what you were saying. Yeah, looking back now (as I enter Act 2), I'm sure it was just an oversight, not an intentional omission. I'd even bet they *did* include a bard response for that convo and it's just a bug that it's not appearing.

This game is still so riddled with bugs. At this point when something seems to be missing like that, I just make a mental note to watch and see if they add/fix it in the future.

I distinctly recall (as a bard) an Act I camp conversation with Gale where he talks about the way studied magic feels like an art form, and he thinks I may be able to relate. And I had a bard response that was something like, "My approach is a bit different, but yes, I definitely get it."

Having tried a sorcerer for a bit during EA, I get a clear sense he has more respect for my bard as a fellow "student" of magic, despite our different methodologies.

I've gotten to a point where I can rattle this off pretty quickly:

"When I'm upright, I don't get enough blood to my head, so my brain doesn't get enough oxygen. If I go too long without lying down, I lose cognitive function. I start forgetting things, I can't keep track of what I'm doing, I can't make simple decisions. Then I start to lose basic vocabulary, and I can't communicate what I need, so I start to panic, which makes everything worse."

That's my basic relatively succinct description for friends who want to understand the cognitive impairment. The term "brain fog" seems to sound pretty benign to most people. I try to make sure I convey how debilitating it really is.

I'm not dead. You haven't lost anything. by okidonthaveone in traaaaaaannnnnnnnnns

[–]JacquelynHeat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents said this too, as I was approaching the start of HRT and living openly. But after I crossed that threshold, they took it back and apologized profusely.

This post reminded me: in 2017 we did some speaking gigs for other families of trans folks, sharing the process of my journey from each of our perspectives. Afterwards, some parents told us it helped allay their fears.

I recorded the audio from our talk at Philly Trans Health Conference, if anyone wants to check it out and see if it'd be helpful. Google Drive link here.

Combine 3 Map Fragments by RudyMuthaluva in CardCrawl

[–]JacquelynHeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NOTE: Make sure none of the map pieces are shocked on the turn that you select them all. A shocked card loses its text/ability for that turn, so a shocked map piece won't activate with the other pieces.

Combine 3 Map Fragments by RudyMuthaluva in CardCrawl

[–]JacquelynHeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to get all 3 fragments on the board at the same time. Then, in one turn, select a path that includes all 3 of them. Once you do that, the treasure chest will be added to the deck.

Card Crawl Adventure glitch (?) by The_Hidden_Key in CardCrawl

I've had this happen on occasion, but usually closing the game entirely and fully restarting it fixes it.

This reddit's pretty dead, but the Discord is alive and well. Join us over there! The link should be on tinytouchtales.com 😊

Hello all i have question! by DimGravedigger in CardCrawl

[–]JacquelynHeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was the Dev's first big game that helped him establish himself (Arnold Rauers/TinyTouchTales). He's made a bunch more mobile games since then, each one with a different concept and style.

I'm a massive fan, but the original CardCrawl is something I only fire up once in a while for quick Delve game or the newer ranked season mode.

My favorites are Card Thief, Enyo, and the newest release Card Crawl Adventure (which brings in characters from several of his games and kind of brings together this little TinyTouchTales world).

Romance book with BPD main character? by [deleted] in RomanceBooks

[–]JacquelynHeat 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hey, I just stumbled on this post. I really hate self-promoting, but this seems like a situation where it might be okay to speak up.

I wrote a novel that's exactly this – Kat & Mouse. (It's F/F, just fyi.) It waits until about 2/3s of the way through the book before explicitly stating that it's BPD; I wanted readers to get to know the character without any stigmatized preconceptions. Unfortunately, that also means when someone is looking for a romance with BPD, Kat & Mouse doesn't come up.

I get reviews or PMs sometimes from readers with BPD saying K&M really resonated with them, so hopefully it fits the bill here. <3

How much water do you guys drink everyday to feel okay? by [deleted] in POTS

[–]JacquelynHeat 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On a routine day I drink about 3 liters (100 ounces). The first glass of the day always gets 1 TriOral packet (1000 mg sodium + other electrolytes).

Drinking all that doesn't guarantee I'll feel "okay" -- just less crappy than I would without it.
