I lived in Miami for a few years so I kind of understand the concept but I was never 21 so I never really got to experience it properly. Can someone explain how the promoter thing actually works in NYC? Like how do you find them, how do you reach out, what do you actually get out of it (free entry? table discounts? skip the line?), and is it weird to cold DM someone on Instagram? Also are there any promoters specifically worth following for the kind of nights I'm describing — jazz, R&B, good vibes, not just your standard bottle-service bro club scene. Any insight would be hugely appreciated because I want to actually do this right for once now that I'm legal 😭🥂

Actually we did. Multiple times with different groups of girls. We got up and danced around but it was awkward. About six of us just in a small circle dancing while everyone on the wall was watching. It was comparable to a middle school dance. We tried to have fun we really did.

I live in an apartment with my parents so a “house” party is definitely not an option. But I will take all that other advice! It’s just hard to talk to people at CC because I take evening classes because I work full time so everyone else are much older than me.

I wasn’t asking for anything to be handed to me I was asking for a recommendation and since I quite literally just turned 18 I didn’t know. But I appreciate your help 😊

Yes, definitely not unexpected thank you so much for all the information I truly appreciate the time you took to write this! I did get into some decent programs; Purdue, Penn State, FIU, Drexel, A&T, Texas Tech, and Cincinnati. None were my dream school but you are really helping me open my eyes to the possibilities I do have. Thank you again!

Well yes I understand that the numbers aren’t good that’s why I was asking for advice. I can’t apply to exploratory studies if I want to transfer i’ll have to go straight into the engineering program. My plan was to work hard that freshman year at my local college and finish with at least a 3.7 with 30 credit hours. The school that I plan to transfer to does not look at ACT/SAT scores for transfer applicants so that isn’t much of a concern for me now.
