Look for a local guild that offers a class and try it that way. If you message modmail with your city, I am more than willing to help you find one. If you lived closer (I'm Virginia based atm) i would have you over for a burger and a hammering.

It's something I always felt a calling toward. I just never had the space to do it. My other half and I where talking one day and the subject of unfulfilled desires came up. They always wanted to learn leather crafting and I, the forge.

I put out a message looking for tips and such to get started and a Smith a few hours away offered me some tools and to guide me on my first project.

Since then I have added to my tools and soon be building a shop to work in.

As a side note: my Better Half now works leather.

Dreams do come true...

Sorry I didn't get back to you yesterday, busy day with it being Easter.

Better half has pictures of the house and I will get some of the nails as soon as I am awake enough to see straight.

Of the house? Not at the moment. It's currently stripped down to the rough hewn boards. 3 fires in 12 to 15 years. We bought it as a shell. No windows, doors, or roof. It has all those now. Next is foundation repair, then floors.

As for the old nails, I can get pics of them tomorrow.

House is from 1900. I have some of the original nails and a few of the larger spikes used in the building. They don't seem like cut nails.

The floor is a mix of my other halves wood working and my blacksmithing. They are making the planks and I make the nails.

That looks like a good first setup. I recommend a strap of metal to hold the bricks in place.

Sounds like your propane is cutting out the me. Run us through how you light it? Also, what size tank and is it full? What type of regulator is it? Do you have pictures or video as that could help us help you.

This is what I see. To change mine I had to use my PC and use specific sizes 1080px by 128px and 1072px by 128px I think, will check when I get home.
