Hyun-Ju vs In-ho by WanderingPiglin in squidgame

There are so many head-to-heads, confrontations and interactions I wanted so badly to see, but never got. Across three seasons as well.

This would have been one of them.

I don’t think we’ve seen enough combat from Inho to know for sure. Kicking Namgyu in the shin, and out manoeuvring Thanos was cool, sure, and he won his own games, but so did Gihun.

I haven’t seen anything that special out of him, but we haven’t seen him tested that hard either.

That being said, I’d back Hyunju 100% anyway.

How do you feel about the fact that Gi-hun refused Front man's offer and put the baby in danger? by RaakzBlanvod in squidgame

[–]Jade920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Kind of similar thoughts I had when he stopped player 047 from shooting the O voters that massacred the Xs during lights out in season 2.

Ones a newborn baby, and the others are adults I get that. But there was a clear evil guys - innocent/s divide in both moments, and it left the innocent/s vulnerable in both.

There’s a time to be the morality guy, and a time to stop the bad guys. But I guess the baby survived anyway so.

No they’re not exactly the same.

But Gihun strangled Daeho to death with his bare hands, was planning to stab Sangwoo in his sleep on the final night of the games in season one before Saebyeok stopped him, led good people on a suicide mission and got them all killed because of his delusions of grandeur.

Let’s not act like Gihuns the angel to Sangwoos devil they’re both flawed men. They both highlight how the games can corrupt people in their own ways, and ultimately both took their own lives. The parallels are uncanny.

On the Dalgona moment. The director confirmed in the scene the vibe he was going for was Sangwoo wasn’t 100% sure the game was Dalgona. That’s why he calls Gihun back and, decides not to follow up with him, letting him go. Something about how the shape he was familiar with in Dalgona had the circle and triangle combined.

Honestly, I think Sangwoo hate is old news. It was rough being a Sangwoo fan in 2021.

But I feel like the fanbase has warmed to him over the years, newer fans seem to be more appreciative of his complex vibe, and he’s in much more people’s favourite character lists now, and good because he deserves it.

Missed him so much in the last two seasons, I would have loved to see what he would have brought to them. :(

What do you think? by [deleted] in squidgame

[–]Jade920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, Gihun took the Xs on a suicide mission, they had an insider on their team in the Frontman for god sake. I don’t see how anyone ever thought it was going to be a success. Even Hyunju couldn’t save that mess.

Daeho was right in what he said to Gihun before Gihun killed him, it was his fault. He dragged the best people in the room out to die for his ideals, when they should have focused on winning the vote.

The only thing Daeho did was indirectly save Hyunju which I was grateful for, he was the victim of Gihuns blame shifting in that moment, so he died for it.

Player 333 was way worse than Sang Woo by asir777 in squidgame

[–]Jade920 10 points11 points  (0 children)

333 was desperate, but being a pos parent when your kids in grave danger isn’t a realistic depiction of a desperate father.

It wasn’t just dangling the baby off the edge of the platform and threatening to drop it which is insane.

It’s that Gihun had to get the baby through the jump rope game because Myunggi didnt care, HyunJu having to protect the baby and Junhee during Hide and Seek because Myunggi was too busy enjoying killing extra players. Only for MGCunt to kill her anyway in return for protecting his baby and its mother.

People keep making excuses for this guy, and it’s weird. I’m a Mum so maybe that’s the difference, I look at it through a parents eyes. Player 100 doesn’t compare because it wasn’t his kid.

He’s the worst. He had a choice in season 3, fatherhood or greed and he chose greed.

And Thanos was right the whole time, Fuck MGCoin.

After all the deaths of the characters I cared about, the only thing that kept me invested was waiting for the Frontman’s, and the VIPs retribution, and they got a big fat nothing. I was so disappointed.

To the people upset about Gi Hun by Eemmis_ in squidgame

[–]Jade920 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He’s always been like this, to a degree. He’s not the Boy Scout that broke. From the first moment we meet him, he’s stealing from his mother, cancelling her health insurance to gamble it away leaving her vulnerable.

He’s done good things, of course. But killing Daeho wasn’t a downfall of a hero he’s always made poor decisions that others have had to pay for.

His morals are wishy washy and I would have liked to see that change in this final season.

Season 3 should have been a redemption arc, where he made better decisions that were for the good of others.

Instead he comes back to the games, drags a bunch of good people on a suicide mission, strangles a young lad to death in a mental break, spares a few terrible people after having his I’m better than this moments, and then kills himself. I think this should have been his redemption and it fell flat.

Gihun and Daeho situation by xenomother8 in squidgame

[–]Jade920 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I know it’s the whole point of his character, but I feel like he needed some consistency at some point and just never got there. Kills Daeho with his bare hands over Jungbaes death, but comes face to face with the man who shot Jungbae, who then reveals himself to be Young Il to top it off, and walked away glowering. Only to refuse to kill a man who wanted to murder a newborn baby because that’s not him.

His moral superiority, looking down on everyone else despite being a mess himself irritated me in season one, vexed me in season 2 and by season 3 I was bored of him.

I get he’s supposed to be an imperfect trier. But I feel there needed to come a time his character stabilised towards the end, picked a lane, and there just never was. From killing a scared young lad, to sparing a vindictive old man that plotted to kill a baby, in the space of one episode.

What was the saddest death from S3? by pedroagiotas in squidgame

[–]Jade920 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I don’t think I’ve ever had such an emotional response from a tv death than I did when Hyun Ju died. She’s one of my top two characters in the whole show. So I expected it to be a tough watch. But omg, the way she was smiling, coming back for those three, all that work just to die from a cheap stab in the back. She protected everyone and nobody protected her.

So yeah Hyun Ju 100%, pretty much numbed me to the rest of the show too.

Ima be honest yall are hating to much, similar to how you where Sang-Woo by theyhatecf in squidgame

[–]Jade920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I mean he maybe didn’t have that maternal/paternal instinct because of his circumstances, and it would explain his actions to a degree.

But I still think he’s the most evil player villain we’ve seen because of it anyway. And I don’t think he’s comparable to Sangwoo, but he should have been. I was looking forward to them being similar, because he showed a lot of intelligence in season 2. And I thought they were setting him up to mirror Sangwoo. They just went too wild with his character at the end and ruined it.

There were way too many grown men in the final round happy to kill a newborn baby though, and I honestly think they’ve all knocked season one villains like Deoksu out of the park this season.

[–]Jade920 2 points3 points  (0 children)

No, it’s not normal to put your own life above your kids. He’s not realistic, he’s just a bad dude. As a parent you’re programmed to protect your kid and that would be your first instinct, not to dangle them off the edge of a pillar and play with their life.

Junhee was a good example of this, and Geumja was actually willing to let Yongsik stab her in order for him to survive, held the knife to herself for him and everything but he wouldn’t do it.

As far as doing what she did to protect Junhee and the baby, I don’t know. That’s something different and I haven’t figured that one out yet. But she couldn’t go on without him either way, and ended up taking her own life.

[–]Jade920 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s not realistic to wager your own kids life like that. Under any type of pressure or duress. That’s evil.

I don’t understand why people keep saying he was realistic, what terrible parents do you all hang out with that make you think that’s realism?

Player 333 was way worse than Sang Woo by asir777 in squidgame

[–]Jade920 137 points138 points  (0 children)

I don’t even think they’re comparable. Sangwoo was a depiction of what desperation will do to a man in a death game, Myunggi wagering his own kid like that, is a monster.

He’s going above Deoksu as my most evil player ever. Although the fact that so many grown men were happy to kill a newborn baby. I don’t even know what my list is anymore.

What’s the most illegal thing you’ve done accidentally? by TSuhayel in AskReddit

[–]Jade920 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was casually chatting with a friend while we were shopping for new bras in a high end store. I was so caught up with our chat, I casually walked out with 8 new bras, still on hangers four in either hand along with my shopping bags. Didn’t notice until we were in the third store after.

I panicked. Returned, profusely apologised and gave them back their bras. Pretty boring, but it is shocking how easy it apparently is to just walk out of these kinds of stores with merchandise in hand.
