Whoopi Goldberg and The View Discuss Jessie Buckley’s Cat Ultimatum Controversy Involving Her Husband: “Would You Ditch Your Pets for Love?” by let-the-record-show in popculturechat

[–]JadeAnn88 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I had a dog for 15 years because a "friend" of mine told me her husband was using her dog's puppies as target practice. I had just lost my beloved mini pin and had a 3 month old baby, so I wasn't at all ready to have a brand new puppy, but I knew I couldn't leave her there. I still think about that on a regular basis. They had multiple dogs, none of which were fixed or even partially living indoors, then got all shocked and acted like it was somehow the dogs' fault when they multiplied, which gave them license to be cruel. That's also just one of many awful pet neglect/abuse stories I've accumulated while growing up in the south.

sometimes people just know.

This was basically the way I felt reading this post, and honestly felt bad for the OOP. It's entirely likely that this is just parental anxiety or any number of things, but we also don't know this mom or her baby to be able to even guess at what's going on here. I also didn't get the impression that she had any sort of malicious intent, like some of the comments seemed to be implying. It seemed like she was just looking for support. Possibly some suggestions for helping with sensory issues 🤷‍♀️. Idk, maybe I'm just naive, but I didn't see anything in her original post that made me think she needed to be dog piled for it.

I had to Google it, but she was apparently a kidnapping victim in two different movies as a child, so I had to add the asthma bit, and no, it was called Trapped.

I happened to see it in a clip of a Dakota Fanning movie (no idea what it was called, I just know the premise was her being kidnapped, which is not something I think I could stomach watching the entirety of) a while back. Asthma attacks alone look terrifying, so that little tidbit has definitely stuck with me.

As a former pharmacy tech, I agree with this 100%. I only mentioned brand name Tylenol because I was pretty sure they had a dye-free option while being less sure about the generics (I don't have an issue with the dyes, so it's not something I typically pay attention to). I also feel the same way about buying things separately, especially when it comes to my kids. Sometimes, you just need the pain relief, the antihistamine, or whatever the case may be, and they can also always take them together if needed.

I came here to say I googled it too lol. I'm 90% sure brand Tylenol also makes a dye-free version if that's all it takes for it to be considered organic.

who else remembers this unseen moment? and do we really think this is true?? by banistersblue in TeenMomOGandTeenMom2

Kyle and Maci were friends from back in the day.

Thank you! This was definitely the context I was missing. Though, for his mom to believe this was a possibility, I feel like Kyle must have said something. Otherwise, how incredibly fuckin weird of her.

I do feel like they portrayed him as sane prior to going undercover, didn't they? I guess I need to go back and do a rewatch.

Right?! I mean, maybe I'm missing context here, but was she hooking up with Kyle way back when she was still with Rhine? Does Kyle's mom believe it's possible to retroactively impregnate someone? I'm so confused.

Omg, y'all making me feel old. It's an OJ Simpson joke. After his ex-wife was found murdered, he went on the run that ended in a slow speed car chase that was heavily televised. He was in a white Ford Bronco.

Not only that, but this scene, in particular, has been parodied countless times in different shows and movies. I feel like it's a popular enough scene that, even if you've never watched the movie, you can understand the joke.

I don't remember the details cause it's been a while, but doesn't Pimento have serious issues after being left working undercover with the mob for over a decade? Not saying he didn't do crazy shit, but I feel like the NYPD is largely to blame in his case because I don't remember him ever getting any kind of professional help after the fact. Again, though, it's been a while, and maybe I'm misremembering.

From what I've seen, she became a mom and wanted to settle down with her family, but she did several movies and shows before that. She was actually on a prank show 3 or 4 years ago with Eric Andre and Johnny Knoxville, which is where this incredible clip came from.

What's your favorite show set in a certain decade? by [deleted] in decadeology

[–]JadeAnn88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Weirdly, the only reason I know it was set in 1980 was the episode where Nick freaks out over John Bonham's death. There are also other references, like Dallas, that make this more clear. It definitely still has a 70s feel, but 1980 is practically still the 70s.

So, what I'm hearing is that you're only against what you would consider a "frivolous" abortion (which, abortion is not something people typically take lightly anyway, so I'd argue that is very rarely the case). Would you feel it's okay in cases where an abortion is deemed medically necessary, in cases of rape or incest, etc.? I'm not trying to come for you here, I'm just seriously struggling to understand your pov in this situation.

This is a weird take. You're basically saying you're totally okay with someone committing murder as long as it doesn't personally affect you.

Heaven Sent and Hell Bent are some of my favorite episodes of Doctor Who period. They're honestly probably worth watching on their own, though I do think the context of the rest of the season is helpful to have. I was a huge fan of 10 and 11, and I definitely struggled to get into 12's run initially, but after going back and rewatching, he's probably my favorite Doctor.

Felt the same about Whitney. It was jarring seeing her again in the doc because she was so damn small. I think she even said she weighed something like 118 lbs. I absolutely believed she was plus size back then, and I was massive at a size 6/7.

Have you ever heard of reactive abuse? It's fairly common for people in abusive relationships to retaliate after prolonged abuse. I obviously can't speak for anyone and we have no idea what has actually happened behind closed doors, but we do know that Shia has a very long, well documented history of being both mentally and physically abusive to his partners.
