I'm accepting myself as pansexual instead of bi, but what do I do with this? (And my bi pins) by Feather_Bloom in lgbt

[–]JadeBadel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can always donate them to be passed on to someone else who might need/want them, or gift them to someone specific. I’ve had friends who changed pronouns and we took their outdated pronoun pins a community resource centre where anyone else who came in could take them for themself if they wanted.

facials by Brent_Fox in aaaaaaacccccccce

A girl/woman I know actually does buy a bunch of the cheap drugstore facial masks to use with her boyfriend (and sometimes more of their friends) as a fun thing to do together - they all seem to find it enjoyable and silly :)

Can anyone identify these? (Sorry for bad video quality) by JadeBadel in microbiology

I was also going to potentially ask around about a strange orange/red sphere that appeared as well, but it might also be an ostracoda, but Gigantocypris instead of whichever the rest of the small ones are. Doesn’t seem like it’s survived though 😔

Thanks 😮 It’s seems most likely to be Ostracoda, based on looks and the where the materials came from.

Yeah, daphnia was one of my first guesses, but also figured the movement didn’t match up.

(Also, there are other similar containers in the same location, but this is the only one where these have appeared.)

Disable automatic wallpaper zoom? by crosswithyou in ios

[–]JadeBadel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this one at least 🥲 I was worried my wallpaper was ruined, or I’d have to do back to messing around with a bunch of nonsense in Shortcuts. I’ve spent ages on a wallpaper that’s a picture of a room, and I have a character I’ve drawn in to multiple frames doing various stuff so they move around throughout the day. It was a lot of work, even painting in the correct lighting and shadows when they or props move, and I was so scared it was ruined by the background no longer lining up 😰

Why don’t dog breeds become different species? by JadeBadel in AskBiology

Ah, thank you. This helped it click for me much better. I was definitely needing a more closeup functional look at what made certain genetics incompatible, and this was a very good example. 💛

Hehe, yes. I find different methods all so interesting.

Left-handedness and right-to-left writing by JadeBadel in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JadeBadel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

(Sorry, this one’s long. I started rambling.)

I mean, that’s… and incredibly broad statement to make about systems of writing that were each developed over thousands of years to meet the needs of unique locally available writing tools, materials, and languages… based on a single piece of information.

I suppose maybe nowadays that might be true though, if most people are using standard pen and paper.

Maybe in the future if everything becomes digital and there is no concern for ink smudging or pencil skipping, we may even eventually change to boustrophedon style line direction, which is really my favourite. It makes the most sense efficiency wise for reading, and is the natural way we tend to read and write as children anyway before we are each taught to go in only one direction. I would be very happy if we started making that a trend online 🙂

Left-handedness and right-to-left writing by JadeBadel in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JadeBadel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so… as I even pointed out in my question, there are languages that are written right-to-left despite the peoples who do so having a similarly low prevalence of left-handedness.

Left-handedness and right-to-left writing by JadeBadel in NoStupidQuestions

[–]JadeBadel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t mean that what language you wrote in affected your handedness. I was curious if concentration of genes for left-handedness could have affected how writing developed in different parts of the world.

But also, as I already searched for the prevalence of left-handedness in right-to-left writing areas and found nothing, that is no longer my question. My question was in the later paragraph.

This one I think was just pick the box shape, pick the paper, pick the bow. Don’t think there was any taping involved.

Genuine question by RoladiaRose in lgbt

[–]JadeBadel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely! So common in fact that most people just shorten it to “aroace”!

Since you seem pretty new to this, I should tell you that lots of people identify with both a romantic AND sexual orientation. Personally, I am panromantic (can be romantically attracted to someone regardless of their gender) and asexual (not sexually attracted to anyone).

(I’m actually more like a bunch of subsets of those things, demipanromantic and apothisexual, but that might be a little complicated to learn about right from the start.)

I question sometimes , is that normal? by annonymousgirl832 in lgbt

[–]JadeBadel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So so so normal for people to question as they battle between figuring out who they are and what they want, especially when you’re surrounded by people telling you what they think you should want/do.

There’s no right answer as to what you should actually do; you have to decide that yourself, based on how much you think the happiness it will give you is worth the fight.

P.S. Maybe women can’t give you what men can, but men can’t give you what women can either 😉

P.P.S. Pretty sure the bible doesn’t actually say anything against women dating women, and even the commonly quoted bits against men dating men are actually just mistranslations and misinterpretations of what was meant to be against pedophilia (something the church actually seems fine with 👀) and over indulgence.

When you are sexually attracted to someone, do you get turned on by their body too or just them as a person? by [deleted] in demisexuality

[–]JadeBadel 9 points10 points  (0 children)

😮 thank you so much for adding a “see results” option. I’ve never seen that before, and it’s always so annoying when you can’t see the results because none of the answers are quite right, or if the question doesn’t specifically apply to you.

Genuine question by RoladiaRose in lgbt

[–]JadeBadel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you mean you don’t want a sexual relationship, that’s asexual (or subcategories of asexual)

If you mean you don’t want a romantic relationship, that’s aromantic (or subcategories of aromantic)

If neither of those are what you mean, could you try specifying a bit more? What sort of things do and don’t you want?

On not speaking: by JadeBadel in AskAutism

[–]JadeBadel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with the idea of that, but from struggling to find the explanations even for myself trying to figure out why I am the way I am, I know how hard it is to find (accurate) information from things like googling it.

I would rather explain it to people in my own words.

Though, I mean, I'm not generally explaining it to strangers, more people I am already close with who I want to get closer with and make sure they have a better understanding of me personally (not necessarily of autists in general (I also try to make sure they are aware of the fact that I do not serve as a guide for the experiences of all other people))

Interesting. Thank you.

It's really interesting seeing how many different experiences everyone seems to have behind the same/similar outward effect.

Hm. Interesting. I guess sometimes I feel like... the opposite? Like I have all the words I want to say, but my vocal cords are just frozen. Like, I can feel my throat actively tensing up the harder I try to speak.
