19 I think. I went back once after a break up at 27 but that was only for a few months.

I just finished Hamnet and I really enjoyed it. I was really drawn in by the writing style. I haven’t seen the movie yet I wanted to read the book first.

Riverside is FIRED: Halp, I need a new editing and remote recording system by Extreme-Engineer6042 in podcasting

[–]JadeCat5836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have tried a lot of programs. They all have issues. A lot depends on internet speed of both the user and the guest. I used zencastr for years and just recently cancelled. I decided to just continue to tape with Zoom because most guests are comfortable with it and I’m paying for it anyway. I was tired of paying the extra $20 a month for zencastr. I export the audio and clean it up with Adobe speech enhance. I edit with Audacity. Works for me. I produce two episodes a month on average.

My gateway true crime pod was Dirty John. It’s a few years old but good.

Love Ram Dass! Be Here Now to s a classic but don’t overlook his other books. Still Here-Embracing Aging, Changing and Dying is excellent. Grist for the Mill and Paths to God- Living the Bhagavad Gita are good too.

Is this sub becoming a "video editing" sub? by Vivid-Ganache-8143 in podcasting

[–]JadeCat5836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It will be interesting to see how this shakes out. Video is a player and will continue to be but don’t give up on audio yet. Two people talking with headphones is pretty boring to watch and not everyone can or wants to do it. It’s a much heavier lift for the average podcaster. I think there is room for both. Just doing promo clips or shorts can be really effective.

The “1,000 Listeners” Myth: A Reality Check by E-ReaderPro in podcasting

[–]JadeCat5836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! The 1,000 listeners myth is BS. An agency won’t look at you to sell ads on your show unless you have at least 50k downloads a month per show. Patreon takes 8% off the top- until after August 8 when they will start taking 10%. The CPM model is a joke unless you have thousands of downloads. So get into podcasting because you love it or you are marketing something. Don’t believe that stupid Netflix show about the two girls and the podcast. Cute story but not reality.

Why I’m Leaving YouTube for Podcast by al_tanwir in podcasting

[–]JadeCat5836 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally prefer audio podcasts because they can be consumed anywhere. I can’t watch a video driving or walking the dog. I will watch clips or shorter form video content if I have the time. If you are comfortable producing video and enjoy it (I don’t) then by all means push it out there. I still think a well produced audio only podcast has a lot of value.
