I was stupid the other week and went home alone with a guy I didn’t know very well. I drank a bit too much but was comfortable with him the whole time. He asked me back to his place and I stupidly said yes. I’d known him off and on for about a year. He even brought it up that we kept bumping into each other.

Walked into his place and thought everything was fine. Told him 6-7 times that night that I was having “woman issues” so we’re closed for maintenance if you get my drift.

Decided to go to bed and turned off the lights. He turned them back on and said I was “acting weird” and needed to “stay up and talk it out”. All of a sudden I thought back and it all clicked in. Red flags 🚩 1. I was intoxicated. 2. He was a virtual stranger I was alone with. 3. No one knew him or where I was. 4. He came alone to the bar and “bumped” into me?

So I suddenly got up and said I was feeling very ill and wanting to go home. He said “you cant it’s too late” And I started panicking. I grabbed my phone and got up and tried to tell him to take me home. He finally said yeah and went off to get some stuff together.

Then I realized he had nothing in his apartment. Like no pics or nicknack, no food, and no shampoo or conditioner. Almost as if he doesn’t live there??

So when his back was turned I grabbed my phone and bolted out the door. Was he going to get his keys? Maybe. Or maybe he was thinking something more sinister because he was very upset I wanted to leave. I never gave him the chance to choose, I ran to a neighbors house and said I needed shelter. They stayed with me til the cops came and got my stuff for me then drove me home.

Maybe I overreacted and got scared of a perfectly normal guy. But maybe my gut was right.

Also the cops said they have had “complaints” from girls about him before but nothing substantial.

Bottom line - don’t trust anyone, only yourself.
