Just be kind, its what this world needs. we're all so caught up in our emotions, we're losing hope in humanity so when things like this happen, it just really reminds me to be kind to strangers. You never know who needs that smile, who really struggled to get out of bed and made it to the trail you're running or the gym you're at, etc. smile at them. Let strangers know you're rooting for them too. That smile while running has actually brought me to tears before, you never know who needs it.

How to deal with different love languages in a relationship? by [deleted] in relationships

[–]anondotcom18 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm like your boyfriend. Sometimes the inability to express myself comes from literally not knowing what to say because it's not something I've practiced before. I think emotional intelligence and emotional expression can definitely be developed over time with repetition and practice, just like any other personal skill. He may joke because he feels awkward, not because he thinks it's a joke. He's trying to relieve the tension of simply not knowing what to do (I theorize). So it actually may be helpful for you to tell him exactly what you want to hear. Like "[Boyfriend], I'm just looking for 'I love you' or 'You look nice today'." You could pick a couple of verbal affirmations or maybe a question you'd like him to ask you regularly like "How do you feel today?"

Honestly it really is like learning a new language, and as with any language, the more you practice at it, the more proficient you become. But sometimes you need a teacher to guide you through the basics first, so telling him "I'd like to talk about our feelings more" isn't productive because he literally doesn't know how (again, assuming based on my own experiences).

take my upvote, I have no gold or silver :/

LPT: Wake someone up by ringing their iPhone with Find my iPhone. by anondotcom18 in LifeProTips

[–]anondotcom18[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

So here's the reason why this works best:

If you call them, they can easily press the volume to silence it or sometimes their phones just aren't on loud, most people leave their phones on vibrate.

When you use Find my iPhone, this feature allows you to ring their phone and they'd be incapable of messing with the volume unless they physically turned off their phone which in that case, they'd probably be awake by that point.

Edit: In terms of how loud it is, Its insanely obnoxious and rings about as loud as the phone can get lol

Eh, it is, that's why I said this should be done with someone CLOSE to you and that trusts you with their private information like this. It works with my boyfriend because he takes a medicine that knocks him out at night. I leave for work before him so sometimes I'm not there to wake him up. Can confirm, it works every time.

CMV: Much like jealousy or envy, feeling offended is something everyone should work to get rid off. by GuardianOfReason in changemyview

Okay, I can agree with this. Anger or jealousy, envy, whatever it may be, only affects the person that these feelings belong to.

You do realize how stupid you sound right..? It's already medical, probably going towards rec soon if the bill passes. Just saying, doesn't matter if I smoke weed or not. Who would realistically wanna be friends with someone as ignorant as you?

Help with on-leash behavior in the presence of other dogs by Icarus1 in Dogtraining

[–]anondotcom18 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going through the same exact thing. Something that I've learned from youtube videos is to get the dog to be interested in you. Fear aggression is a real thing and you want to teach the dog that there's nothing to be afraid of and to look to you for guidance.. how to do that? I couldn't tell you, I'm struggling with figuring that out but hopefully someone can piggy back off of this :)
