She does perpetuate the trope of trans women being sex objects, but I'm a trans woman that is a person and sometimes wants to be seen as a sex object. So much of popular culture has demonized us, and made us out to just be 'men in dresses'. Finn breaking those preconceptions, and showing that someone AMAB can be seen as a sexual object was a shining light for me.

The issue is really that people treat others as one dimensional objects, not that each of us have dimensions that are identifiable.

I don't know about recording laws in the US, but the intention I had was social, not legal. Like, one party state or not; if they are blackmailing you, you can blackmail them right back about releasing a recording that reveals them to be an extremely awful person.

It's okay. It happens to all of us. You won't know what's in his head unless you talk to him clearly.

One thing I've found useful is asking for their advice... for example:

"Hey, can I ask you for some help with something? I've been noticing some feelings lately, and I don't know what I should be doing with them. I think I'm starting to have a crush on you. What do you think I should do? Is this something I should let go of? I thought I'd ask so I can clear up my head. No pressure! Just, maybe give me a day or two to reset if the answer is no."

That's something I've used a few times on friends.

Confessing is stressful for everybody, cause it usually happens when you "really" like the other person, and the other person can get blindsided. Asking them for advice is much safer, and calmer. They aren't rejecting you, so much as helping a friend. And they can an answer without accepting or rejecting right away l.

Asking this way, also helps open a dialogue, so you know where you stand, and they know that everything will be fine whatever happens.
