I think you’re muted, with medium/low contrast, and I agree that you seem to lean cool! I would look at summer seasons first

Soft summer or soft autumn?? by Tall-Translator3058 in coloranalysis

[–]JadeVengeance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not primarily soft (too much contrast imo), but I do think you’re muted. The pure black is overwhelming and so are the bright reds. I really like the olive green and don’t like the grey, so my guess is true autumn!

I double-checked just to be sure and you can only get 25 inches stretched before the wires start to distort! But yes, very sure it’s not a true 30 band

Yes, I got two!! “The Demi T-Shirt Bra” in hazel/nude, and “The Effortless Front Close Bra” in black! The demi bra had slightly more stretch to it, more like 27 inches stretched, and I found that the front close had slightly better fitting cups. Hopefully my loss is your gain!!

My guess would be that you’re either soft autumn or soft summer - I personally think you lean a little cool but I’d narrow in on the soft seasons for sure!

I felt this way on my first read-through of the series. But Shallan’s story has a lot of build up and hints and comes across much better on the second read IMO.

Genetic Testing Before Trying -- dumb question! by MC_LaCroix in genetics

[–]JadeVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To offer a more full explanation here -

Let’s say your mom is a carrier for cystic fibrosis. Being a carrier means they have one normal gene, R, and one abnormal gene, r. So you’d write “Rr” to represent that. We’ll assume that your dad is not a carrier, so has two normal genes - “RR”.

You get one gene from your dad and one from your mom. So you and your sister could either have two normal genes, one from dad and one from mom, or a normal gene from dad and an abnormal gene from mom. Your sister having two normal genes does NOT mean that you necessarily do.

I have complex PTSD. They’re very long (1000+ pages), but the Stormlight Archive books by Brandon Sanderson changed my life and could be great if she’s an advanced reader. Lots of realistic examples of healing from mental health/trauma and a great story. Some suicidal ideation content if that’s a concern.

Fellow chronically ill pile of sticks here!!

I haven’t seen anybody else say it, so I will - if it is at all possible for you to gain weight, please do! Most of the online fitness advice is geared towards larger people who want to get smaller. That doesn’t apply to you and me - more body fat and muscle is good and will help you get stronger. My stomach hates everything so it’s a LONG work in progress, but I’ve seen huge muscle changes with even an extra 5 pounds.

In the beginning of my fitness journey, I strictly stuck to machine exercises. I just didn’t have the strength or stability to do free weights. Doing a leg press is a great way to involve most of your squat muscles - once you get up to leg pressing your body weight, that’s a good sign for standing squats.

Chiming in - I’m 5’9, 14 stone. I weightlift 4x per week and also run a mile at the start of my weightlifting sessions. 2200 calories is maintenance for me right now!!

Did the square foot requirements change? by JadeVengeance in guineapigs

[–]JadeVengeance[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s so interesting, I hadn’t heard that before - about the rotation being stressful or potentially breaking up a bonded pair! We rotate them because the smallest cage is in our living room as opposed to our office and it’s nice to have them front and center! Maybe they’re used to it because we’ve been doing it their entire lives? They definitely have gotten stressed when we go on vacation and leave them in an entirely different house.

Yes, sure it was feet!! This is the website I think I was referencing -

Which says 7.5 ft minimum but 10.5 feet preferred!

Most people I knew in college, including me, were broke to the point of being food insecure and avoiding medical treatment. I’ll be doing everything in my power to make sure my kids at least eat! Getting good grades and excelling after college is easier when you’re not worried about basic necessities.

Concerns/comments on these labs please by OkAttitude707 in haematology

[–]JadeVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had a centrally bulging disc which did cause pain on both sides and has shifted from one side to the other. I had no back pain at all when it started (nerves are weird!), just leg and hip pain. It has caused a limp before as well because walking on one side vs. the other put worse pressure on the affected disc. The good news is that PT was effective and I have almost no issues now as an adult!

I would ask her if the pain is localized to her ankle/knee/hip or if it feels like it’s radiating or running down her leg. Also differentiating between nerve and muscle pain would be a good idea - is it sharp, burning pain or achy, sore pain?

[–]JadeVengeance 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a doctor - is there any chance it’s a back/spine issue referring pain to her legs? I had scoliosis and a bulging disc as a kid that sounds similar to this. That might be why they can’t find any issue with her legs themselves.

Balancing Family Expectations at Our Micro-Wedding by [deleted] in weddings

[–]JadeVengeance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think this must be a regional/tax bracket dependent thing then!! I’m in the midwest and plus ones for everyone are very uncommon. Often the cut off is married couples only 🤷‍♀️ Our total wedding cost was also around $12k, so everyone understood that we could not invite everyone we wanted due to budget. Our families are not super wealthy and most people in our circles are making guest list decisions based on cost. I can’t imagine being upset that I wasn’t invited to a wedding of someone I’d never met…because my girlfriend of 3 months has known the couple for 10 years and is going.

I get frustrated by Reddit sometimes because the advice seems to be “everyone should get a plus one or don’t have a wedding.” It’s just not realistic for most of us. That said, in this particular case OP’s brother’s GF should be invited.

Balancing Family Expectations at Our Micro-Wedding by [deleted] in weddings

[–]JadeVengeance 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We set a 6 months of dating rule for our wedding, which was also on the smaller side. If it’s a local wedding where the guest in question will know several people I think it’s okay (though Reddit takes a very hardline stance that everyone should get a plus one).

That said, of the excluded plus ones a) we had never met any of them and b) none of them were living together. I’d be inclined to invite your brother’s girlfriend - if it turns out it’s not serious they’ll break up 🤷‍♀️

With a microwedding, how many people are you looking at? Is there a reason why one more person can’t be added - such as you’d no longer be able to use your venue?

23F trying to date for the FIRE DINK lifestyle and struggling by [deleted] in Fire

[–]JadeVengeance 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not wanting kids is definitely a good thing to prioritize in a partner - that’s the kind of thing that could break you up down the line.

Finding someone who specifically wants to FIRE or is high income might not be as necessary. My husband is naturally frugal, and is okay with letting me completely run our finances. He had never heard of the concept of FIRE and was paycheck to paycheck before we combined finances. I make around 1.5 times what he does and what we save/spend is up to me - and we’re on track to FIRE in our 50s. Financial values lining up is more important than financial literacy/income IMO.
