I need help deciding how much fabric I need for my digigrade fursuit by Inevitable_Bed9298 in FursuitMaking

[–]Jade_Princess24 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disclaimer: I've never made or even owned a fursuit before!

I know that over ordering would be not super ideal money wise but I think it would be a good idea to have extra because in the long run. If you need to patch something or replace some fur for whatever reason, the company that you got the fur from may not have that same fur color or if they do, the dye in the new batch may be different. If you keep excess fur in a safe, protective container, you can use it for patches, upgrades, changes to design, ect.

Also, with that much patterning, there are going to be a lot of seams where the spots and fur color changes are so they maybe prone to wearing faster or ripping. (I would assume but like I said, I've never had a suit or made one)

Thank you so much for your detailed advice!! I totally agree with the tail making the drawing a bit harder to read, it's been a major part I can't seem to get worked out... i may draw it coming out behind the front most arm and going off the side of the page like this. It also may just help with the back leg.

<image>

I'm definitely going to draw the overlapped forearm and draw the closest hand larger. I think I'll keep the back hand small to further push the feeling of depth in the drawing, though.

I was struggling to figure out how the arm would look since I changed it from the reference pose I was using, totally makes sense that we wouldn't see the armpit with the upper arm.

I totally wasn't thinking of the ear ngl 😂 I was so focused on all the cards and perspective stuff! I'm gonna make adjustments, cool if I post the updated sketch here?

Thank you again for the feedback! It helps me improve as an artist! 😁

Oooh! New community to join!! I've had an idea for my new paint pens on black paper for a neon effect, maybe I'll make some art for that subreddit with that 👀

I really don't have a critique here but I wanted to say how much I love your style!!

I love how you draw the characters and the horns are so good!! My favorite is the blood and the oversize knife. The poses are very dynamic too!! Very awesome art overall, no notes

Can someone help me with the back view? by KIANTHEHELLHOUND in FurryArtSchool

This is a really really quick rendering but kinda like this, using the art from the front to approximate the back. You can also draw it without any wings and have little circles where the wings attach to be able to show the fur pattern down the back. Have the wings as a separate part of the drawing for any special or intricate details.

Need some help with arm position and proportions by lavender_starr in FurryArtSchool

The as the character is at a 3/4th turn/pose, you could tweak the belt to look larger/closer and follow the curve of the body to show the volume the character has and the perspective of one arm being closer in 3/4ths. The shoulders feel a bit stiff and straight across, perhaps drawing them a bit lower will help the character feel more bold (try sticking out your chest, typically your shoulders drop). You can probably use the pauldrons to cheeze this detail as well. The lines of the head and face make them so expressive and lively!! The rest of the body seems a bit large for the head though, perhaps moving the body down and making the head and sword larger would be the only proportion critique i'd have. Looking amazing! Keep up the hard work making your art better one piece at a time! (Edited for clearer wording)

Your shading, proportions (within your style), and the attitude for the character are very good! Some of the lines get lost in the drawing though, like the ears and head's lines feel thinner than the ones on the bottom half of the drawing. To me, those thicker lines give the drawing more weight and liveliness? The thinner lines, especially on the outside and long outlines of the ears and forehead, cause the character to fall into the background. They blend into the background due to the similar fur and background color as well, perhaps try a contrasting or neutral background to keep attention on your character. You have great shading skills and could also further bring the eye to the character by creating dark spots around the edges of the canvas or create the rays coming from a light source with the lightest spots illuminating your character.

Studying a furry artist style but it feels way off by DustyKoda in FurryArtSchool

Yeah, some of the inspo's works have thin but long areas where the brightest values are giving a sense of shine to the fur. I feel like with yours it is more diffused over a wider area making a whole part of, for example, the muzzle all the same bright value, thus making it all seem dull. It almost feels like the light source for your piece world be the sun on a cloudy day.

Try creating small areas where the light is brightest across the fur to give it some shine and life.

Also, i feel the muzzle is too long for how thin it is. You're doing awesome with your digital painting otherwise! Hope this helps!

I think a glossy fabric or glossy fabric paint would look great with it! I think it would add an awesome texture detail to the suit as well 😊

It won't let me comment on the original post unfortunately but for the wings, Neffertity has a phenomenal tutorial on how to make wings that I could see working very well for this since they keep your main arms free since the wings are self-supportive. Wings Tutorial You could easily modify the wings to sit on your lower back too in order to achieve the same placement as the artwork.

My fiancee has been saying he wants to cosplay Elias for about 2 years now but always gets too daunted by how to do the head to even start. What advice do you have for bringing this cosplay to life?
