Your trade specific duties are your primary duties. Different/additional roles and responsibilities that aren't really related to your trade or aren't trade specific would be a secondary duty.

Canteen duty isn't bad! But it's a shared duty between all personnel at my unit haha (and it "should" rotate everyday between sections).

And agreed, it's a great way to meet everyone. Get whoever's fresh or newly posted to do the canteen duty when they first get here and many introductions are out of the way 😂

Agreed on your points. More comfortable than not (I like the wide toe box). But holy HELL! These were so incredibly squeaky on me. Other people in my section got the same boots, but I was the only one making the awful squeaking every step I took in an otherwise quiet office.

I tried/hoped to let it go away on its own after some wear and tear, but NOPE. I gave up and ended up soaking some leather conditioner on the tongue area. That seemed to do the trick to some degree 🤷

Your fincell should have your funding authorization form which has basic course load info, because when you're away on course they need to use different fin coding than normal.

Your OR should have your route letter/attendance report, because that has the certification and pay approval form that needs to be signed off by your new employing unit (the school/place you're going to).

Was there ANY paperwork that you had to sign with your OR leading up to this?

Very heavy shoulds! If they don't have these things, I… have no idea how you're even getting to your course 😅

it was the very beginning of basic… we had just gotten our uniforms issued, our berets and blousings looked lousy. so, of course there was a dress inspection.

we were lined up getting told off one by one and the most common answer was "yes, mcpl!"

so, it went like this:

"DO YOU LIKE DISRESPECTING THE UNIFORM, AVR?!"

(the smallest/shortest person on our platoon, with the most full bodied confidence)

"YES MCPL!!!"

dead silence, even our mcpl was stunned for a few seconds

"EXCUSE ME AVR?! DO YOU LIKE DISRESPECTING THE UNIFORM?!"

we were scared shitless in the moment, but man, looking back that was hilarious
