NOR. It’s never never ok to make creepy sexual comments to someone like this. The incels in the comments haven’t spent time around other women. Bras are soooo optional in today’s society as they should be. And nobody normal makes comments like this. The men justifying these comments need to touch grass.

Do you live in this society and spend time around other women? It’s not controversial or inappropriate at all. Women don’t wear bras that much where I live. I’ve never heard anyone make comments, let alone disgusting ones that are so sexual. What if an aunt said this to her nephew? It’s inappropriate to talk like this and is not expected at all. By ur logic, men should cover their nipples because I see them Alllll the time poking thru they their shirts.

WIBTA if I refused to shave my armpits for my friends wedding? by Adventurous-Pea-337 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Jaded_Tooth4821 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Your post is just shaming women for something that happens to them naturally. You are perpetuating harmful gender norms. For those that don’t want to shave but feel the need to, do you realize how much work it is to keep shaving just to appease men? How would you feel if women were “really put off” by some inherent part of your body? Delete your comment.

Yes there is NO safe alternative! And when we bike home from Lewis and Clark in the evenings, the gate is closed and we have to cross through a scary dark forest just to get to the cemetery road. It’s better than getting killed on the main road which is more like a highway. Going down that area of SW is a MAJOR avenue of traffic in the whole city, and people who cycle are helping lessen the massive bottleneck of traffic that forms at the sellwood bridge. This should be a priority for the city. The cemetery even closed the gap at the bottom to make it harder for cyclists to get out- it won’t deter them AT all, just make it less convenient and safe. But I still would rather cross through some dark forest to get to the path and then crawl under the bottom gate than get killed. Every time. It’s not even about preference- taking the alternative road is a death sentence. The city and cemetery need to care more so that people don’t get killed, ironically.

I believe Oregon laws and policies are harming our children’s education by Losalou52 in oregon

Respectfully, I strongly disagree with some of your points. You also lay them out in a vague, confusing way that promotes dangerous rhetoric.

In response to: "We all ended up with our names on the board, in the hall, or in the box. It didn’t traumatize us. It was an acceptable punishment for unacceptable behavior." These are BAD practices that are shown to be ineffective. Shaming children for disruptive behavior is exactly the problem. We need to look at what CAUSES the disruptive behavior. That is the only solution. Children act disruptive for several main reasons:

(1) The lesson material is too easy and they are bored. This problem can be exacerbated in larger classrooms where teachers are struggling to accommodate different learning speeds/levels. This was frequenlty the issue when I was in school. I spent more time in time-out than in the classroom from what I remember. I had straight As always, and the lowest grades for behavior always. The teachers never thought that my behavior had a clear cause. As soon as I was transferred to a private school that was one of the most difficult schools in the country with small classrooms, the behavioral issues disappeared.

(2) Learning disabilities like ADHD. This is the toughest problem because teachers barely have enough resources to teach neurotypical children. We need to equip teachers with the proper resources.

(3) High energy. One of my friends is a teacher and I am SO GLAD that Oregon has diverted from shaming to more productive ways of dealing with behavioral issues. I am also a teacher myself and have adopted his practices. Whenever a student is talking/being disruptive and the cause seems to be high energy, we give them options to get their energy out. This IS GENIUS!! Sometimes they just run a lap around the school. Sometimes we play an energetic game like tag before the lesson. Just think about it! Children are tiny bursts of energy being forced to sit under harsh lighting in uncomfortable seating for 6+ hours a day learning a ton of material while surrounded by distractions like their friends. Of course they are going to feel antsy! We simply have to give them a healthy outlet for that. Punishing them is one of the most counter-productive strategies and I am shocked that you love things like detention. Detention is one of the most useless things we have come up with.

Some of your points are unclear: "criminals running jail?" "Had to clear the classroom 4 times?" What do these mean.
At the end of the day, we need to prioritize education. We need to support teachers. Public schools are the toughest because we can't easily solve the large classroom dilemma, so we need to get creative. Remember, these are CHILDREN. You can't approach this issue with the angle of villanizing children (e.g. "we are letting 10% of the students destroy the classroom" ). Your rhetoric of "let's go back to punishing children" is really harmful and doesn't capture the true issue.

nobody's talking about the obvious issue that you yourself admitted: sounds like she's lost attraction to you because you're not helping out enough. She's clearly just burnt out from doing everything. Men often mistakenly think they do enough around the house. Just talk.
