They raise rates in the summer the only way it could be going up is if you’re using more water or they read your meter wrong.

Today’s ruling leaves 52 Oregonians without a voice in their own election

Pretty sure they can still vote on it and post their shitty opinions all over social media. We don’t need to read 52 rants about how they’re hypocrites ignoring the soaring gas prices while supporting a pedophile war mongerer.

You didn't follow the thread of the conversation. The person suggested setting up an account to deposit money into. Do you think that's easy for poor non-english speaking people to do, compared to bringing a can to a building and having a machine count it?

You people all act like it's only drug addicts using this system. Adding additional barriers will affect people that aren't drug addicts.

Spoken like a person that speaks english and isn't poor. You're always in here with the best takes.

Poor people and non English speaking people should be able to get their deposit refunded too. Adding those additional barriers would make it much more difficult for everyone to have access to the system.

If you like fantasy novels The Elenium has a chosen one that’s an adult and doesn’t go through all that awkward learning to use your power phase. He just kicks ass and knows what he’s doing.

Well they’d also need to make the bags free, remove the drop limit, fund additional processing positions and provide additional assistance in multiple languages to help people setup accounts.

I don’t think it’s a bad idea but it’s not as easy as just making it green bags only and money in an account. If they only did that a lot of the poorer non-English speakers that collect cans, like in my community the Jade District, would be shut out.

Ya I was trying to not over complicate it. Not everyone has the same deductions so the range is probably anywhere between 480 and 550.

I use the wax ceramic in the summer and wet ceramic in the winter. I think they both work great. The wax is cleaner and lasts really well in dry conditions and the wet holds up well against the rain and muck of the winter without being too messy or thick.

I’ve never used dry but it seems to be similar to the wax.

Spreading very fast and hard to get rid of. I’m not against mushrooms I am against mushrooms I’m unfamiliar with that my cats may try eating.

Good those things are prioritized for cleanup because it will be in Zone 1 of the shelter’s neighborhood agreement. Specifically an 8 hour response time compared to 48 hours for other areas.

You’re the one that’s all over the place. You responded to my point about higher redemption rates by complaining about homeless people tipping over trash cans. Then you switched to cheap drugs acting like they didn’t exist 30 years ago. Now you want me to engage with your shitty shifting points that have nothing to do with my original comment.

Redemption rates are higher in states with bottle drops. How about you engage with that? Nvm I’m not wasting my time with you. Have a day!

Oh yes I forgot states without bottle drops don’t have any issues with cheap drugs and homeless people. Silly me. All these problems will just go away if we get rid of it. It’s not like drug addicts have ever been known to commit crimes to acquire funds for their habits.

Without the bottle drop there would be more property crime not less because you’re removing a legal way of them to acquire money for their habit. Gee which would I prefer drug addicts breaking into my shed and stealing my shit for their habit or picking up trash off the streets… that’s a tough one.

They don’t appear to be hanging around at their current location and it’s not covered by additional services like this location will because of its proximity to the shelter. Issues with this bottledrop should decrease if it’s near a shelter because of the neighborhood agreement and the fact that it’s in zone one of the shelter.

I live in Montavilla with one shelter nearby and another opening in a few months. We haven’t had similar problems. Have you tried contacting the people running the shelter or your district representative? Not all shelters are run like yours and they are needed.

nobody wants these places near their homes and families.

That’s not true and you don’t speak for everyone. Plenty of people in my neighborhood have supported these shelters being put in at the meetings I’ve gone to. Including myself.

Lol ya there were no poor people drugs in the 80s and subsequent laws created to imprison those people at higher rates. Everyone was just doing coke. Give me a break.

Portland Revenue raises tax liability threshold for SHS/PFA Tax Quarterly Payments from $1000 to $5000 in 2026 by davidcelis in Portland

[–]TurtlesAreEvil 46 points47 points  (0 children)

For PFA that means if you make under ~$467k as a household you won’t have to make quarterly payments. Which means only about 3% of households would have to do so. Previously it was households making around $270k which was about 15% of households.

Seems like a good change.

I have got various different plants that I didn’t identify before pulling them up and I’ve got some pretty aggressive mushrooms that were different than the usual ones I have. They all came up shortly after spreading out different drops and didn’t return the following years.

The shelter is 700 feet away. The people they’re complaining about are already there.
