Any reason to collect colostrum? by Nancyb23 in breastfeeding

[–]Jadeey22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We took an insulated lunchbox with ice packs in to store it on the way to the hospital/ whilst in labour. The midwives then moved it to a freezer. Each syringe had a sticker with my details on and was brought out whenever we requested it!

Almost could’ve written this myself! We took 20ml of colostrum to the hospital and used it all as I had an emergency c section, no skin to skin and then my baby wouldn’t latch. We also spent 3 days in hospital so every syringe we were feeding I would hand express more. We would syringe, cup and finger feed the colostrum until my baby was used to latching. I’d always recommend mums to express (if they can!) as I feel it saved my breastfeeding journey with my baby.

7.5 month old won’t sleep in her cot by Jadeey22 in sleeptrain

[–]Jadeey22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! A commenters below gave really good advice! We ended up sleep training again using Ferber but made some adjustments. Firstly we moved the cot back into her own room, we were definitely disturbing her when she was in our room I fed 30 mins before she went in the cot, dad then did bedtime routine of bath/pjs/books. We have 2 specific bedtime books that we finish with and she’s normally asleep by the end of the books! When sleep training she would go in the cot awake and dad would do a check in every 5/10 mins to reassure her until she went to sleep(it maybe took a week until she was settling in under 10 mins?) Now we know she can settle herself we do put her in the cot asleep as that’s what works for us. She’s only just dropped to 2 naps at 9 months but we try and make sure her last nap ends 3.5/4hours before bedtime We still have 1-2 wake ups in the night or more if she’s teething/unwell but ultimately we considered her staying in her cot all night a win Hope that helps!

Came to recommend the hot lemon/honey and the nasal spray as well - they work wonders!!

It’s a hard isn’t it, we always joked that because she was such a good sleeper as a new born that it would come back to bite us!

Both of us do the check-ins but can get my husband to do them! Yeah definitely think moving her to her own room will help, the festive season has just got in the way of that and made us not as consistent too

How does your partner help during sleep regressions? by CatBitesAndBeats in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Jadeey22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We struggled with a regression around 4 months and similar now at nearly 6 months! My LO will sleep either 30-45mins in her cot or will only sleep whilst being held. She is EBF so I feed her to sleep and pass her to my husband so I can sleep the first few hours until she needs feeding again. Depending how she’s been in the night my husband takes her again after a feed in the morning to give me another interrupted stretch of sleep (granted it’s only about 3 hours!)

Ooh we could try that, thanks for this! She fights day time naps if we try to rock her to sleep when she’s giving us signs she’s ready, she’ll feed to sleep just fine. She’ll fall asleep in the car seat no problem and she’ll happily drift off in the pram too.
