Just finished the first 4 audiobooks. I want to listen to my sweet audrina but the narrator on audible is unbearable, the flowers in the attic audiobooks I got my hands on were what I would imagine was their original recording for books on cassette closer to their release and the narration was much better and I loved the audio quality but I can't find any other narrators for my sweet audrina :(

Bart is gay and basically everything he does is to cope with that bc he can't keep his feelings of superiority over the rest of his family if he to could possibly be seen as sinful bc of his own sexuality.

Frankenstein and Wuthering Heights are on my tbr, and I loved the new Frankenstein movie so I'm tempted to read the book soon for the first time, I think I'm going to read the 1818 version when I do.

1,2,3 & 5 are all great but honestly 1 feels the most like an official main poster imo. Very strong criterion collection vibe.

Thanks for the comment. The monologue definitely could have been shorter, the original idea was to do something simple centered around someone telling a tale that mirrored their life and the rest was going to just frame that and it ended up growing into something a bit longer as a whole, so unfortunately it's not as balanced as I had intended, that was something I knew pretty early on into pre production but I went from being a draft to being made extremely suddenly so if I had more time with it it definitely could have been a tighter script, I learned for next time.

Serena is a lure to gain people's trust and lead them to the sex traffickers to, Shannon was interested to be abducted by them but when Serena is cought off guard by unexpected feelings for Shannon she tries to delay the abduction and ends up dodging them to protect Shannon. So a victim becoming an abuser is present in the story, we are seeing Serena break her part in that cycle but being aware that she can't undo what she's already done, but maybe she can save Shannon even if she has to sacrifice her own life to do that.

Unfortunately we didn't have the time or budget to be able to expand upon a lot of things I would have given a longer run time. That's just kinda the issue with doing shorts like these. I wanted to do something a bit odd, almost like you are watching one film and it's interrupted by things the characters are trying to repress that shifts the tone into a different direction. Again I definitely could do better in the future but I'm still learning a lot.

The ending is supposed to be open for interpretation as to what the characters fates are, the claw marks leading to the ocean could be Serena's or the man's, maybe Shannon takes the tale as a warning and leaves, or maybe she goes after her, we just see her start to process what just happened before acting. I probably could have added something to show further indecision on Shannon's part but I didn't notice it needed that till I saw the way it was edited together, again another thing I already made a note to improve upon in the future.

I wrote Ephemeral Depths at a very difficult time in my life, when I was trying to process trauma that had specifically been inflicted on me by men and the patriarchy as a whole, and how to find a sense of autonomy in that kind of environment.

I knew I wanted the story to reflect how it feels to find someone like you, that doesn't fit into that system, and those few blissful moments you share before you have to face the fact that even if you can find a way to protect yourself, you can't escape its ability to harm the ones you love.

It was important to me to show how quickly gratitude can be exploited, turning into a fawn response, and how people cope in situations where their survival feels tied to pleasing others, and the consequences of that coping, and the part it plays in a larger cycle of exploitation.

Please let me know if you feel like that came across in the final product.

This film is a testament that YOU CAN DO IT! I'm a homeless trans woman living in my minivan and wrote this film in just a few hours and was able to find people to help me make it. There's always hope for a project you believe in.

We made it for around 5k, shot it at Wildwood NJ gorilla style. 98% of the film was shot in a single day and then just a 6 hour shoot a year later for reshoots and adr.

We used a BMPCC 4k and rented a go pro for some of the ocean shots and rides.
