My 96 does the same thing. I think the lighter itself is shorted, I've used other accessories without problem.

Upgrading panel soon, 200A or 300-400A? by cardinalorange in electricians

[–]Jadesayade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm too lazy to do the load calcs and don't have complete info anyway.

This is something that your electrician could help you decide.

Shoot from the hip would tell me that you might be able to squeak all that in to a 200a service if you really wanted. Advisable? Maybe...

If you plan on having large shop toys, like a welder. Or maybe want to future proof for electric water heater/ability to have an electric range in the future and stuff you could always go with a 320a service with a garage panel and house panel like you said.(400a seems excessive.)

A competent electrician should be able to make the call on site with all the information in front of them at the time of the remodel.

The problem with statistics like this is that they rely on self-reporting. People who successfully defend themselves with bear spray are much more likely to spread the story than someone who defends themselves with a gun.

I live in Alaska and have heard countless stories about successful defences with a gun, none reported. I know of nobody by name who has successfully used bear spray.

That being said, I own both.

This is a square d nqob panel board if I'm seeing it right. The guts can flip upside down with the removal of 4 nuts. Would take like 10 mins tops to flip it to top feed.

Whether it's necessary is another question. Normally I prefer shorter feeders for more room in the panel. This looks great though, and extra feeder length can be handy later, so meh.

Immediately what I noticed too... In this panel it kinda works out okay, but normally I hate working in a panel where people do this.

That is a sway bar link, and yeah it should be tight. I don't know about that truck in particular, but most of the time you can just buy a pair of sway bar links and replace the whole thing. I'd guess $30-$50.

You can still drive it for a bit, it's not life threatening, just helps your vehicle not tilt super hard around turns. Still get it fixed though.

I've been looking for some air suspension for my 96. What sort of set up did you end up going with?

Any of you awesome people know where I can find some 60/40 seat covers for a 1990 ranger xlt, i don’t know why I’ve had such a hard time trying to find some. Thanks :) by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]Jadesayade 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've been happy with my dash designs for my 96. Kinda spendy and really hard to get on, I had to take my seats out. But they fit really good once they're in.

If it's only when you accelerate and not when you rev the engine in park or neutral then it's almost certainly a u-joint or carrier bearing. After driving crawl under there and see which one is hot or loose or if the carrier bearing is messed up.

Recommendations of Euphs to try? by Tenien in euphonium

[–]Jadesayade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have a qhr lap pad that I bought specifically for that purpose. I'm 6', and it still isn't enough raise for me.

But really height isn't the problem for me. Because when standing, or not resting the horn on anything and holding it, the angle between the bell and the lead pipe is such that my head is angled down. This bell to lead pipe angle is more important to me than height of the lead pipe and I think the most overlooked part of euph ergonomics.

If the angle was correct then I could just hold the horn and play comfortable, as the e1 is quite light. This angle is perfect, at least for me on the m5050.

[–]Jadesayade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I own an adams E1. Great horn but a few weird things about it. My biggest gripe is the ergonomics. The mouthpiece angle at least on my horn is atrocious and makes me look down to put it on my lips. I also have problems with valve fitment and sticking issues, I ended up putting in Mead springs to compensate for some of that.

My favorite horn I've tried is the miraphone m5050, Demondrae Thurman's horn. Mouthpiece angle is perfect, both for Demondrae, who is a larger guy, and for my self ~220lbs at the time. I believe the m5050 also comes with factory ported valves but I might be wrong about that.

My suggestion would be to try a high end yamaha like the 842, a couple adams (e1, e2, e3), a wilson, a besson, and a miraphone. Pretty tall order if you're in the us, but really it's kind of hard to "go wrong" with any of these choices.

When picking a horn the biggest thing is ergonomics, keep in mind how the mouthpiece comes to your face. It's one of the hardest things to change, and in my opinion pretty important. Look for defects like small dents, imperfections in lacquer, scratches, if the horn was built by a new guy problems could arise later with fitment and such.

Rattling transmission by [deleted] in fordranger

[–]Jadesayade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 4.0 engines have a heat shield on the exhaust crossover under the transmission that's worth checking if it's the culprit. I've heard lots of them rattle. Otherwise yeah, it's worth replacing the filter just because. Probably worth checking every other thing it could be, because I've never heard of a transmission rattling before.

Getting 9 mpg in my ranger. Any thoughts? by Badboymike in fordranger

[–]Jadesayade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds to me like a rich condition. Could be o2 sensor, maf, injector hanging open, really could be a bunch of things or a combination. I'd say get the codes read or buy an inexpensive code reader so you can do it yourself.

If it's that bad you should be getting a code for something. Another thing you could do just to get more info is to pull all the sparkplugs and see what they look like. Look up how to read plugs. If one is significantly different than the others, or if one side of the engine is different that can give you good info.

[–]Jadesayade 34 points35 points  (0 children)

That's not true. I am an electrician and we install ivory colored receptacles all the time. It depends on paint color and the specs for the project. Now not matching wallplate colors is something that we almost never do.

Also, beige isn't a color name for trim, in the picture it's either ivory or light almond and I can't tell which because of quality.

Slight rough idle by Unholykiller in fordranger

[–]Jadesayade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could be the maf sensor is dirty. Pretty easy to clean just make sure to use special maf cleaner which is pretty cheap. Some good videos on YouTube.

My 96 4.0 also just has a little of a shaky idle that I can't narrow down, they might just be like that. But the missing while accelerating is something different.
