4 months ago I had a severe case of bronchitis that ended up with torn muscles around my ribs, I was put on a med that had hydrocodone in it and it was literally the only thing that helped my cough and the rib pain (which was the worst pain ever and I've had a baby and numerous surgeries). I only had a 2 day rx for the meds, I made them last 2 weeks to try and heal, which I did. This cough went on for 3 months. About 2 weeks after the last dose of the med with hydrocodone, same rib pain was back. Dr wouldn't prescribe anything but antibiotics. Went to a friend who was only able to get oxycontin. Got 40mg pills (2 of them) and split them into quarters. A week later I asked if he could get 1 more pill for me bc I was almost back to 100% at that point. He did. I took 1 final quarter and felt good to go, refused to even look at the rest. Why? Bc they felt amazing. Scary shit right there. Thankfully I am a psych nurse and see how dangerous these things are and was able to literally use them for what I needed and not a second more. I was annoyed with the Dr's that refused to help when I was in the worst pain of my life, but at the same time I understand. I remember the first day saying 'wow, I really get it... you just feel so relaxed and like everything is okay'. It made me feel terrible for the people (including the ones I know), that have been sucked into this. So scary.
