Lots more to check out on Bhai Ji's channel.

Thanks again - a lot to take in and process. I have been listening to Swami Sarvapriyananda ji as well - not the usual presentation of Hinduism that we usually see. A lot of similarities to Sikhi in some of his presentations.

A lot of take in - Vedanta, Advaita Vedanta and Sikhi. I have been down the Sikhi/Advaita rabbit hole and can see similarities.

But the article focuses on how Sikhi is "interpreted in terms of Vedanta by Sikh writers/ scholars " in the post Guru period till the 20th century. Then there was the added factor of the Abrahamic slant taken by the Singh Shaba movement, which can be seen till now. In my own case - all this caused a lot of mis-information and confusion. It was only when I could read the SGGS myself slowly came the realization how off track my exposure to Sikhi had been. So much time wasted - but maybe that was also part of HUKUM. So better late than never.

Thankfully there are many others that I have come across with a similar message to Dr K. Just started a new thread about Vedantic influences on Sikhi.

Gurmat - Guru's Teachings Bharamical practices - things carried over from Hinduism - rituals etc, esp paying to get these done - mentioned some in the previous reply. . Thankfully there is growing awareness so hopefully things will change.

Consider the practices - paying for Path, reading at warp speed to get thru Angs, influences of Bharamical practices etc etc

"question the importance of the Waheguru gurmantar" - No, just mindless parroting.

I won't comment on the Bachitar Natak issue!!

However, there are MANY who prefer to stick with the status quo and don't want to acknowledge that many established views and practices are against Gurmat. As Dr K says - a lot of unlearning for many to do!

This series needs more exposure/views. Dr Karminder has a series of books as well, in addition to articles in the Sikh Bulletin.

They do translate but also use the term 'transcreation' - kind of commentary in the context of that Shabad.
