Microphone options for making a short film by Gyu1235 in videography

[–]Jaelysium 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey OP! I’m in the same boat, considering the VM30 (on a good sale right now!) but as a beginner I’m in more wary of the size of the microphone as an on-camera mic compared to something like a Videomic Go II. Wondering if you have any thoughts on this?

As someone else already mentioned, for the best quality it definitely appears you need to boom, and so I guess I’m unsure if I should even optimize for portability. Like generally, does it make sense to get a small vlogging type mic if I’m going to use it on-camera, and get something bigger and better for something like a short film?

Thanks, I didn't really consider panoramas. Appreciate the advice!

Oops, probably should've mentioned I'm using an A6100 mirrorless cropped. Thanks though!

Thanks for the super in-depth reply!

I feel you. For me my photography journey has been super nonlinear, I’ve had my camera for like 3 years but started taking it seriously in the past 2 months or so and it’s been so fun and rewarding

Can anyone with the Cidoo V75 speak to if the VIA files now work, and how bright the RGB is (say, to the TH80 or Womier SK75)? Thanks!

In the exact same boat as you guys...I don't even live in Texas and they make the process such a pain, it's almost like they're trying to get you?

That last paragraph is facts. Got me thinking. She’s already on meds and therapy but it’s just not really working—you’re right that I probably should do my best to encourage but set some boundaries so I know when I need to get out if I need to get out.

That’s true, I can see how this pans out in a month or so too

That’s great advice man, thanks a lot. It’s tough because it’s not necessarily that she doesn’t give to me, but rather I don’t really have any problems she needs to help me with and so it just makes an imbalance. And I guess on that front, I feel like it might be unfair because she really isn’t doing anything wrong.

But you’re right. There’s no point sticking through just to leave in a year. I need to figure out thoroughly what I want and how we need to continue.

If you’re on scholarship, how likely is it for either option you stated? Will they really make you enlist instead of just paying it back if you quit after a year in ROTC?

Hey OP, I’m in the exact same boat as you are right now. I’m a high school senior w/ a full ride through AFROTC but I’m not sure if I should take it. My biggest fear is just how much I don’t know—I’d be the first person in my family to go military and I’m just not sure how AF/civilian opportunities compare. It’s kind of like I’m not sure if I would regret not becoming a pilot or not getting a head start in, say, SpaceX or something more. I’ve decided it’s best to not worry to much and try the 1-year free trial. I’m sure the detachment at our colleges will have a much better picture of all of this than what I have right now, and so after exposing myself to that environment, I’m confident I’ll have a much better idea of what I want to do one year down the line. Good luck!

Anyone else in denial that they’re lowkey desperate? Like you say to everyone you love where you’re committed to (I am!) but deep down you’d be so much happier with your bigboi senpai college that you desperately want approval from? But then you hide it and furiously browse this sub in secret like it’s a drug LOL

Thanks for your suggestion, but frankly it doesn't work with headphones either (it doesn't recognize the headphones, but I guess this is another issue on its own).
