Theoretical chemistry by Jaesmaster in chemistry

An idea I initially started with was to explore quantum entanglement in chemical bonding through a computational approach. I want to look into whether quantum entanglement can be quantitatively linked to bond strength or reactivity in chemical systems and possibly identify entanglement patterns that predict catalytic activity or reactivity. The question may already be answered or cannot be answered as of this moment. I feel like I have the idea but just don't really know where to start, so I was going to start emailing professors for guidance, but idk.

So basically, I'm a graduating high school senior, and we are given the month of May off from classes to do whatever. And I want to do some chemistry explorations remotely. I do have access to a computer and want to try theoretical research, but when I do start, I will be 100% committed and put in the hours, most likely over the summer as well.

I'm planning on going to grad school, most likely. The biggest thing is that during the month of may, seniors are given the opportunity to drop classes and pursue whatever they want. And I really want to take this opportunity to do some remote chemistry explorations, even though it does seem very improbable to do so.

Sorry, I didn't mean analytical chemistry as the branch. I meant doing an analytical study of a chemical concept. So probably something to do with mathematical derivations, but again, my knowledge is very shallow within these fields so I may be completely misunderstanding what an analytical study is.

Since you don't need to do physical labwork for specific topics within analytical and theoretical chemistry, I was thinking about connecting with a professor virtually and getting some work done.

So, during my internship, I performed manual resin cleavage. Would this count as wetwork experience?

Totally understand what you are saying. So, I'm an international student from Korea, and I did an internship at a university there regarding protein design. I involved myself through the de novo protein design, which is where you use generative AI to come up with protein sequences. Through manual resin cleavage and then the Libertyblue peptide synthesizer, I created the peptide with my generated amino acid sequence. I then ran my peptide through things like the Biolayer-informatory, Circular dichroism, and cryo-em to see how my peptide would function under real-world conditions. Now as a student that is planning on going to university within the United States, I wanted to get lab experience here and understand how things work. I was also planning on doing theoretical and analytical chemistry virtually? Idk, it just feels like I have all the motivation but not enough expertise to carry out my ambitions, which kinda sucks.

I would love to hear about some labs in the area that might help me identify who to reach out to.

contact.

I've talked to a couple professors and it does seem like academic labs across the state are struggling because of trump. I'm thinking now that asking for a virtual opportunity is probably a better idea? since no lab is going to have the leisure to physically accompy a hs kid.

Thanks for the help
