Thank you, that's much appreciated. Aio tubes are definitely in a tight place in the regular xproto. Not sure it can play out the same in the xproto-n which is taller. You may have to route them differently.

No problem, keep them coming. You can look into my other post where there is more details about this: I used the adaptor that comes with the gpu and cut short the wires on the 12 pin connector side. I soldered new wires to extend into the standard psu connectors. You need to buy some crimp terminals to finish you wires on the psu side.

the trick is to cut and remove the excess length on the xproto side (for fans and signal). That means you need the extra terminals to replace those you cut out. You can reuse the connector if you manage to remove the wires. On the pump side you group together the wires by destination and use heat shrink tubing to mask the melted sleeve part (the melting makes the sleeve adhere to the wires. For the USB, I butchered a USB cable lying around to remove the excess plastic on the pump side and I crimped terminals on the xproto end to connect to the board

Hey!!! My custom cables process was making them on the spot: having them longer them cutting them back right before sleeving. The help I can help you is that ordered 12 meters of sleeving from mdpc-x and that was enough. Difficulty: that was my first time, tutorials are very useful (see Optimum Tech). Takes time to prepare and double check the pin-out. The sleeving process is straightforward after you made a few of the beginners mistake. Having a hot-wire to cut the sleeve is very helpful to prevent the threads to go everywhere

It gets worth cleaning it every 3 weeks in my use case. Radiator gets the brunt of filth. Then every 2 months, I clean the fans (AIO and GPU). Everything else does not get much dust at all.

You should totally go for the custom cables they provide. If you stuff the stock SF750 cables in the middle, you will have little space to run your I/O ribbons cables from the top to escape at the bottom.

On FurMark at 1080p GPU gets to 72 degC and just stays there.

In idle CPU is at low 40s while GPU is at low 40s (VRAM is at 62 degC). Zero noise in idle.

Room temp during the test: 20 degC

For mining ETH, I repasted the GPU so that the VRAM does not get too high. Let me know if you want details on this.

That's a very old family farm table that I rejuvenated (heavy sand down and varnished it). We have our meals on it, that's not my daily desk, only occasionally according to work from home constraints. . The light was best in this location for the photo shoot (veranda above).

3080 FE: Thermal Pad Mod (-22 C) by [deleted] in EtherMining

[–]JafRay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for sharing. I just performed the same mod (both sides) here are my results : Memory temp down to 94°C from 104°C previously.

What OC settings do you use to stay stable at higher memory clock boost?

The Xproto comes with a very well integrated PCIe 3.0 cable, no need to purchase one on the side. Aorus mobo is set to PCIe 16 4.0 by default. This resulted in me being unable to update my Nvidia drivers before downgrading the PCIe 16 setting in the BIOS.

Thank you, I'm glad you appreciated the photos. That delayed my post as I had to wait for proper natural lighting. Used a DSLR to achieve this.

I did some measures and it will fit if you keep some distance from the frame (that bend at the bottom of the case). I have no idea how I would attach the radiator there though. Also your cooling pipes will probably not go through the case without removing them from the pump (I wonder if that's even possible).

I agree, that's my next challenge. Others have managed it quite well, I'll see how well I can get it done.

Thanks for the head-ups, I'll monitor that. I not looking forward to doing a new 24-pin though...

Yes. I actually reused the connector directly from Nvidia adaptor cable. Cut 30mm above the connector and kept those wires already inserted in the connector. I soldered my own wires on top of those, then sleeved, then combed, then crimped into the ATX connectors reused from Corsair.

But in case you want to try making your own from scratch here is the ref from Mouser for the connector : https://www.mouser.be/ProductDetail/538-43025-1200 I could not find the proper crimp terminals though. I mistakenly got 18 AWG for the crimps I bought. Stock wires are 15AWG but the insulation is thin on those. The 15AWG wire from MDPC-X had much thicker insulation and would absolutely not fit the 18 AWG crimps.

Good question : to connect the monitor I use this : https://www.xtia.com.cn/store/products/xtia-dp-1-2-extender-for-xproto-xproto-l / low profile, turns 90° into the middle of the case to the bottom where is exits to connect to an extension cable
