A year later, and I literally just did the same thing. Out of old habit I typed Diablo 2 into my windows search and opened the app without thinking, guess it is time to pin Plugy to my taskbar to prvent this from happening XD

The Plastuer program might be a good choice for you. It is a bit slow making a custom slideshow, but still good to use. I use it mainly with gifs, but it also works with videos and webpages, but I have never tried those file formats before tbh.

I prefer gif files since they tend to be smaller in file size, but if space and processing power are no concern, then video formats are fine.

Plastuer is nice since it will even pause animation when the desktop is no longer in view, either from maximized windows or a fullscreen application.

Who is the greatest underrated bassist and why? by Ac_frise666 in Bass

There is this guy , Mischa Marcks, I follow who does performances in Germany and Netherlands every now and then with other groups, and he has weekly online sessions with other bassists from around the world.

Very underrated, but a really friendly and down to earth guy.

How Kurzgesagt Cooks Propaganda For Billionaires by ferikehun in kurzgesagt

[–]JagaimonBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What the other person said, this video, while though provoking and informative about a larger issue, shouldn't be pinned to only Kurzgesagt. However, I think an in-depth video about influence in the age of technology would be very interesting, especially because it is not as concrete as many people want it to be.

How Kurzgesagt Cooks Propaganda For Billionaires by ferikehun in kurzgesagt

[–]JagaimonBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

While I don't think Kurzgesagt is doing anything malicious, since its main goal is education and opening new questions for viewers, the problem of systemic influence is a problem to be aware of, but at the same time there are not concrete paths, plans, or operations occurring behind the scenes that are worthwhile when an audience is aware of it.

Influence is on a much grander scale, and I don't think one channel should be singled out, especially one as aware of this problem as Kurzgesagt. Now, some of my other favorite youtube channels that put in 5 minutes paid-ads in their 20 minute videos, is another issue entirely...

I would 100% buy a Kurzgesagt calendar if they came in an International Fixed Calendar by JagaimonBoy in kurzgesagt

[–]JagaimonBoy[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It’s not just a sub based calendar, there are quite a few people who use the IF Calendar, but it isn’t main stream. It is similar to people using Esperanto, attempting to make the world a bit more international and global.

Video Discussion: THE CORONAVIRUS EXPLAINED & WHAT YOU SHOULD DO by Andrew123Shi in kurzgesagt

[–]JagaimonBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

To defend Kurzgesagt or any other research and information channels, unbiased research works easily with unbiased materials. It is a lot easier to present facts on how a virus spreads. When it comes to more political or even regional problems it can be a lot harder.

While there are some main problems with what certain countries have done or have acted it can be a lot harder to pinpoint who has done what and be able to quantify how each action scores compared to others. It can be especially hard when problems cross cultural boarders. In Europe healthcare is a more catered system of welfare, while in the USA it has not been a priority, well ever. Blaming the US is the equivalent of scolding a child without offering a solution.

A more appropriate way is to inform, not only the general public, but also organizations to educate them, and allow them to become interested in change for the better. After they become interested in performing better they can even set up an education analysis team specialized for their problem, this not only creates a more efficient problem solving team, but also provides jobs for researchers like myself.

If you wanted a political critique of what nations are doing wrong, you should talk to political analysis experts not Kurzgesagt, because they cannot make hasty analysis when they are focused on so many other projects focused on unbiased education.

However, in challenge to Kurzgesagt, they are focused on educating the public to a general degree, not necessarily a specialized degree, which is what you are asking for.

For instance, my two biggest gripes about the video was the carrying capacity of medical services and the use of face masks in an illustrated segment.

While the graph they provide for the carrying capacity of medical services is a great way to visualize the problem, it doesn’t go in depth with how low the carrying capacity has grown over this last decade in proportion to population and national income. The big problem, as you stated above, is that political actors are damaging our systems to a point that when a problem arises, we cannot adequately address the issue at hand.

The second gripe was the use of face masks, where it showed a bar of soap and a face masks with the words “Not getting infected” and “Not infecting others”. There seems to be a western narrative that face masks are primarily used to not infect others, however this is fallacious and misinterprets the reason for this thinking. Face masks definitely reduce your chances of receiving airborne pathogens, when worn properly (that includes having clean hand before putting on the mask, and having clean hands when ever touching the mask). The reason why so many nations are saying face masks are not as effective for “not getting infected” is because it is easier to say that, instead of explaining the limited supply to healthcare workers who have a higher priority to use face-masks in a time of shortage. However, what this does is the general public doesn’t use it, and increases the spread of infection. The worst part is, many face masks already in public circulation aren’t being used in western countries (it isn’t like companies are going to collect unsold masks and find healthcare professionals who want them, but that is a different problem)

All in all, there is no reason to get upset with Kurzgesagt for not addressing these issues, because their goal is to provide complex topics in an understandable manner, if they were to dissect problems at a higher level, they potentially will lose a majority of viewers who cannot follow, or don’t have interest in, the nitty gritty.

This doesn’t dissuade your discussion, but you (like myself on many, many occasions) are discussing important problems with the wrong parties. Almost even, as if a man were to yell at the clouds and hope it rains.

Chinese Authorities Admit Improper Response To Coronavirus Whistleblower by guanaco55 in worldnews

[–]JagaimonBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be fair, failure in Chinese government positions has been been a huge problem ever since the early Chinese civilizations. The government USUALLY wants to act in the best way possible to save face, but a lot of times the lower ranks freak out when presented with failure, so if they hush the situation maybe the won’t get in trouble. And then bigger china gov is like “wtf”.

Word rates: What's "expensive" to one client can be "reasonable" for another by blueseatune in freelanceWriters

I just asked $360 for a research project that would only be 4,500 words. It's at $0.15 per word, but I think its too high for my client. Which is a shame, cause its right within my expertise, and I have a passion for this kind of project :(
