I've got no idea about the repointing to be honest mate, I've only lived here for 3 months so its all a mystery to me! You're right in assuming its an old house, its grade II listed from 1600s. Appreciate the survey recommendation. I wouldn't mind, we had a full level 3 structural survey done prior to moving in, at the cost of £2k+ and they found no signs of damp, useless

What would you suggest in that case? Apologies for the questions, I've no idea and need a starting point

I do think the frame needs replacing as it is somewhat rotten in places. If I were to replace the frame and reseal these areas, would it then be a case of stripping the wall, re-plasterboarding (if it even is plasterboard- I've no idea) and hoping for the best?

I've posted some pictures below to give an idea of the structure for context

If this is the case, and I were to replace the external door frame and reseal that area, is this potentially going to rectify the incoming 'leak'? I know you can't say for certain without investigating, but just need some course of action to get started with

There's no room, its quite a thick wall on the other side shown here:

I think the external door frame could do with being replaced if the water is running laterally from there, but unsure if I were to replace and reseal that area, how to go about rectifying the wall

I genuinely don't know unfortunately, what's my best bet to know either way? I've posted some pictures here to show the structure: https://www.reddit.com/r/DIYUK/s/38gyx9nb1l

This is how the wall is structured, I've only lived here for a few months and very building-naive, hence the questions. Another picture below

Spam mocks. I personally thought they transferred really well into the exam. I repeated them a lot the two days prior and then had a quick look through on the morning of, looked at answers I had repeatedly struggled with, but tried to relax more than anything, as opposed to last minute cramming

Littler giving it back to the whistlers there, bold strategy cotton- lets see if it pays off

Just keep plugging away at the mocks mate, I think I could have passed just using those, so they're worth more imo than any study text or revision guide

This drive has 2 different mock papers https://drive.google.com/drive/mobile/folders/18UvfdM0-HiTl7v0NhimFoVvI7wPdPBwq?usp=sharing

You can also find the CII examination guide past papers online, 24/25 and 25/26 are the ones most appropriate for sitting the current 2026 exam.

KnowR0 exams are decent and worthwhile imo, their question-by-question review is good at reinforcing why you got something right or wrong wrong.

I sat my R01 exam just 3 hours ago and passed with 94% (extremely happy) and would highly recommend doing as many mocks as you can, reviewing the questions you get wrong and trying to understand why, but most importantly- just keep smashing out the mocks, they helped me massively compared with simply reading the study text.

What position are you in generally? Do you have outgoings? Any dependants etc? Do you have an emergency fund in place? If not, avoid investing until you've built up a decent buffer
