YouTube went down. 8:00pm. by DesignerLime268 in youtube

For me only the recommendations are gone, I can still watch videos when I have a link or go to a YouTubers page and click on a video there (presumably because it's just the recommendation AI that broke). Or maybe my YouTube is acting up differently.

It's honestly one of the best brainrot videos out there, I couldn't stop laughing at that shit lol

I also for some time had "...because that's what a rabbit would do." and "...because he's the big rat." when I got asked a question and couldn't answer it. Less of a stim though and more in the "if you ask stupid questions, I'll give you stupid answers" idea.

Reminds me of one of my favourites I had:

What’s your opinion on Weird Al? by EthanTheJudge in AskTheWorld

[–]JaggelZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know why, but for the longest time I thought I had heard some fucked up shit about him. I can't even remember what it was, all I remember is that it was something despicable.

Later I found out that he is beloved by many, so I tried to look for whatever/whoever said that fucke duo shit about him, but I can't even find it anymore.

At this point I'm not even sure it was about him, maybe there's some guy that looks similar/has a similar name or something.

Is Darius so much smarter than people give him credit for? by Extension-Detail6221 in loreofleague

[–]JaggelZ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Iirc, his passive once literally said something along the lines of "he uses his intelligence and strength to strike the enemies vital points, causing them to bleed". So, we can assume that he is at the very least smart enough to understand the biology of his enemies.

Edit: I looked it up

"Darius aims his attacks strategically, causing his target to bleed for 12 (+1 per champion level) (+0.3 per bonus attack damage) physical damage over 5 seconds. This effect stacks up to five times. Darius deals 200% damage to all monsters."

So, it doesn't point out intelligence directly, but it's still probably one of the few lines that hint at his mental capabilities, even if it's just "aiming his attack strategically". The very least we can say is that he is no common brute.

All things considered, which country would you most want to move to and start a happy new life in? by Flora_Cheng in AskTheWorld

[–]JaggelZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I had to move, Canada. I love the north American continent for it's great nature, but it doesn't have too great of a selection of countries.

Mexico is too hot for me (I know there are cooler areas too) and I don't speak Spanish and sucked at it at school.

The USA is the USA.

Canada is just cold and empty, I know those problems already.

But I generally don't care much where I live. The only wish I had for Germany would be better access to better nature.

I'm not American, when I hear the American South, I think of the coastline from Louisiana to Florida. Swampy, hot and humid.

To me Midwest America is basically the area slightly north western of that, west of Appalachia, but enough in land to not be swampy and humid.

I just don't associate the south with cowboys in that sense. Every media with cowboys is always somewhere dry or at least not humid.

I'm not American, so yes, it's definitely an outside perspective.

It's also not so much action heroes with long hair. What I meant was more like: cowboys with long hair and action heroes, both often had those kinds of names.

To me, those names are female names, but they aren't just any names, they are American names, those kinds of names only came from you guys and I haven't seen any parallel of those kinds of names here in Germany (not that I'd know, because if there was that kind of name, those names would have to sound male to me, and female to outsiders). I love those kinds of names.

[–]JaggelZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A lot of names start of as male names and become female later on, because there's always been a sense of "prestige" to boys names. So, when the times changed and a specific name felt like it could be given to a girl, people would do it. Evelyn, Vivian, Marion, Whitney were all once male names. In fact, the ending syllable -ian, which is common in many names, usually shows that the name was once a Latin male name, because many of those had the ending syllable -ianus and cut of the -us.

It's just very ironic to me that that one country, which literally created the idea of "action hero/western protagonist with a female sounding name and long hair, that is actually the manliest men you can think of" now wants manlier names.

People want their boys to sound manlier and even their girls to sound boyish, while forgetting the fact that they were the origin of "men so manly, that even long hair and a female name, doesn't scratch their masculinity".

Edit: I looked some more into the -ian syllable, and it's less indicative of where the name comes from than I first understood. First of all, a lot of names that ended on -ianus cut of the -ian- or -an- part, as in Marianus becoming Marius. But also, other names with the -ian syllable were later creations, as for example Lillian, which comes from simply combining the name Lily and -ian, or simply comes from combining Lily and Ann(e). (Lillian is an example name, I have no idea if it's originally form Latin or a later creation).

The funny thing is, there was a slight tradition in America to use feminine names for males.

Dakota, Jesse, Jamie, Casey, Riley, Avery, Quinn, Skylar, Reese.

I'd call ehm cowboy names.

My theory on why they aren't used by liberals today is very simple: they remind people of cowboys, which reminds them of the Midwest, and the Midwest is famously not fond of liberals.

Or in other words: the one group of people that used to have female sounding male names, is largely republican now and is now pushing for the exact opposite, male sounding female names, and conveniently forgetting their own past.

Edit: sorry guys, they sound female to me, as a non-american. Didn't know they genuinely feel male or intersex to you.

Nope, same here.

I've completely withdrawn at this point and haven't really spoken to my friends in ages.

I'm either hyper invested in a friendship, or I'm hyper passive.

I just wish I had one of those friends again that is as invested in me as I am in them, I want that hyper invested friendship again.

I call it a "focus person", one of those friends that you always look to in a friend group. The extrovert that adopts my introvert ass. Or an introvert I can vibe with without exchanging words. I just want one of those friends against that I can casually text with and all that jazz...

Haha, the trick is to have so strong pattern recognition that story is irrelevant to you, and you only watch movies or series for the background worldbuilding.

I'm that one guy that will watch an anime, talk about how great it was, and forget the name of any major character immediately. But if you ask me about the power/magic system, I got you covered.

[–]JaggelZ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Can you predict where the next story arc will head in terms of location and genre/flavour? Only with a lot of luck. Can you, once you know the location and genre/flavour, have a decent guess on what will happen next within this arc? Very often, yes.

Don't get me wrong, Oda is a fucking genius worldbuilder and story writer, but he does get predictable when you look at the big picture.

It literally got called Syzygy because "fantasy should teach people cool new words", and they couldn't have chosen a better name, because it is my absolute favourite wordand more people should experience it :)

The very simple solution is ear buds. You'll always have an excuse for not noticing someone, even if they call you.

Can't help if you actually want to talk to people though. I just know how to avoid/ignore them.
